  1. 0:01This is day two of the social media
  2. 0:06bad
  3. 0:07sabbatical. I am away y'all. This is day two. I don't talk about habits.
  4. 0:15This is day two of my social media sabbatical and
  5. 0:20today let's touch on habits. Your habits are crucial when you have more time on your hands.
  6. 0:28So it is best to have some good, healthy habits.
  7. 0:34Instead of spending an average of 30 minutes on social media,
  8. 0:39I personally could read a couple chapters of many books that are just collecting dust on my shelf.
  9. 0:47At this point, I'd just be buying books, supporting local authors and creators in their
  10. 0:52endeavors, both physical books and ebooks. If they quizzed me,
  11. 1:00I would not get much past the first few pages, honestly.
  12. 1:05Being off social media is helping me reclaim my time and again, I am building out a course
  13. 1:12that should be available later this year, as well as a new book. Are y'all excited for it?
  14. 1:21What are some things that you are currently working on behind the scenes that was once a
  15. 1:27dream? Day two of my social media sabbatical is feeling like a good break away from
  16. 1:38this AI and robotics and I can actually feel like a human again.
  17. 1:44I reconnected with nature with my daughter as we hiked a new trail we'd never been on
  18. 1:50before. Stumbling over rocks and tree branches, you know how it is, all in the wilderness,
  19. 1:56the wilder beast. Just be tripping and clinging over rocks. Oh yeah, you get it if you've been
  20. 2:07hiking and yeah, the elements is out there. And as an entrepreneur or creative entrepreneur,
  21. 2:15it is vital to take breaks and surround yourself with nature and natural living organisms.
  22. 2:23Many hug a tree, put their feet in grass, soak up all the fresh air from the plants,
  23. 2:32work in the garden, meditate outside, but find what works for you.
  24. 2:40Mine is simply taking a walk or a nice hike. Ever heard many power couples
  25. 2:52and what they do? They take breaks in nature's or what about an old couple
  26. 2:59walking? Have you seen the old folks walking? Well, they say it is healthy for you physically
  27. 3:05and also your mind to walk at least 30 minutes a day. It helps reduce stress
  28. 3:13and increase mental clarity. Reduce stress and increase mental clarity.
  29. 3:25Now, if you're entrepreneur, business owner, creative, that is very impactful. I don't know
  30. 3:32about you, but it is a must. Now, it's a great habit to have. Sometimes I may turn into a
  31. 3:45jog as I'm constantly playing basketball weekly, once or twice a week. So I have more wind and
  32. 3:53stamina for my endeavors and also basketball. And for my creative performers, this is
  33. 4:01for your lifestyle. You don't want to be on stage winded or do a speech winded or dance,
  34. 4:06whatever you do, you don't want to be winded. Keep that stamina up, be active, be in nature,
  35. 4:13clear your mind, rehearse, put in the work. And I'm putting the work that's going to be for
  36. 4:22tomorrow, so I ain't gonna go too deep into it. But what habits are you picking up?
  37. 4:30And which ones are you trying to put down? What are you secretly secretly working on
  38. 4:38that you do not have time for? Do exactly that and minimize or completely cut out distractions.
  39. 4:49I mean, completely cut out distractions. Like social media, if I'd have kept
  40. 4:56it on my phone, I probably would have slipped up and pushed that dang button just out of habit.
  41. 5:02And that's why I want to talk about habits because you got to minimize it or get rid of
  42. 5:08it completely. And I got rid of it completely because I don't want to slip up and press that
  43. 5:15little icon on my phone or two and just be like, dang, I didn't mean to press it and
  44. 5:21wipe off quickly. No, I want to have zero time, zero watch time, zero usage time.
  45. 5:30And I am going to show the facts. I'm not just someone just telling you all of this because
  46. 5:36it's cool or it sounds cool. No, I'm actually doing the work and I'm gonna show the proof.
  47. 5:41The proof is in the pudding. I am doing the work. Habits are regular tendencies or engagements
  48. 5:51that you do frequently that come up naturally to you and it's hard to give up. New habits form
  49. 6:00around 18, 30 days, something like that, 15, 30, around that time range, you know, about
  50. 6:0920 days, let's just say 18 to 30 days. It is a ritual, a routine that you have and develop.
  51. 6:17So what new routines will you insert into your life and your self-development?
  52. 6:25That habit loop is cue, craving, response, and reward. Again, habit loops start with the cue
  53. 6:38and then it goes to craving, then it's response, and then a reward. The cue starts the desire
  54. 6:47and new behavior fueled by a reward. Just like the food we crave, craving is the motivation
  55. 6:55and driving force behind the habit. Along with motivation, you can also have friction.
  56. 7:02Either is a response mechanism you have towards that habit or behavior. Your ability to do it
  57. 7:12or ability to not do it affects this and to satisfy our cravings,
  58. 7:19we have that delicious treat or dish, which is the reward or our end goal.
  59. 7:29How can we change and break a habit? First, you have to acknowledge it and be aware of it.
  60. 7:38Secondly, change your environment and make it hard for you to get and do that habit.
  61. 7:45Thirdly, tell your family, your friends and loved ones, even colleagues and business partners.
  62. 7:54Tell them, help them keep you accountable. Tell them what you're doing so they can help you
  63. 8:02break it and not encourage that habit or habits that you want to get rid of.
  64. 8:10Last but not least, have a replacement. Ideally, you want something in comparison
  65. 8:20that is somewhat similar to make it easy, but it doesn't have to be. It could be something
  66. 8:27completely different, but we are habits lovers, habit lovers, creatures of habits, habit lovers,
  67. 8:41things of familiarity. We seek things that's familiar, so make it easy. Do something that
  68. 8:51is like what you're trying to replace. Make it easy. Just replace it with something you
  69. 9:00find beneficial. To take on a new habit that you want to replace your old, keep it simple.
  70. 9:13Make it obvious, make it attractive, make it easy and make it satisfying.
  71. 9:21You will change up your habits in no time. In no time, you will change that habit.
  72. 9:31And yeah, I put in that work, that 30 minutes of reading time. It is grateful. I actually
  73. 9:40went to sleep and woke up to reading, which is good. I do a lot of reading when I can,
  74. 9:50but I'm reading even more, and it's crucial and beneficial to my growth and self-development.
  75. 9:58As I continue to teach and preach and all the principles and tactics and frameworks that I'm
  76. 10:07learning, I give back to my community, my followers, my tribe, and everybody that I work
  77. 10:14with. I apply it to my businesses and everything that I do. So hey, if you want some tips and
  78. 10:23insights, check out these podcast episodes, and that's why I started. And again,
  79. 10:30if you listen to my first couple episodes, I started this podcast to help me with communication
  80. 10:39and my public speaking and turning all of these into a master class to teach.
  81. 10:46And people want to hire me on different topics, to have them hire me or bring me in to speak
  82. 10:56on certain topics or already have the outline for it. And basically just have to finish it,
  83. 11:03wrap it up in a bow and present. So if you find any topics that you desire and really want to
  84. 11:13bring me out to your organization, your company, your team, or just the one-on-one, hey, this is
  85. 11:19what this is for. I bring on a lot of people from my network or people I network with or just
  86. 11:29desire to meet. I bring them on a platform to help educate you. And I think that's a good
  87. 11:36habit to have. You got to continue to build your network and learn from others. So
  88. 11:41as I learn from others, you can learn from others as well. So I hope you find value in
  89. 11:47all of this. And yeah, what are some habits that you are wanting to break?
  90. 11:52What are some new habits that you are wanting to start?
  91. 11:57I'm gonna let you think and reflect on that. Again, what are those habits you are wanting
  92. 12:06to break? And what are those new habits you are wanting to start? You might have to play
  93. 12:14this episode a few times to get the tactical tips and the steps to start a new habit and
  94. 12:22break a new habit. The proof is in the pudding. Show your work. Just like in math class,
  95. 12:30show your work. How did you get to your answer? How did you come to this outcome? This
  96. 12:36result? So what result will you have in the next 30 days, 60 days to the end of the year?
  97. 12:46What results will you have with the new habits you formed and the habits that you
