- 0:01Wow, this is simply amazing.
- 0:03This is day two of my social media sabbatical.
- 0:10I am fasting for social media for 10 days or more.
- 0:15There might be more.
- 0:16I feel like there's gonna be more.
- 0:19But I got a conference out of town on the 10th day.
- 0:27So yeah, it may be 10 days.
- 0:31I might keep it at 10 days, you know,
- 0:32how we gotta get back.
- 0:36I might post some fresh pictures out of town.
- 0:40So yeah, that'll be my new welcome back on
- 0:43to the platforms of social media.
- 0:47So I appreciate everyone who's joining me on the podcast
- 0:52and also joining me on this journey
- 0:55the 10 day sabbatical journey.
- 0:58It has been great for me thus far.
- 1:02I am loving it.
- 1:04I'll help you get in motivation
- 1:05and some tips from all these episodes.
- 1:09Yesterday I spoke on habits.
- 1:12The first day I talked about detoxing.
- 1:15Today I would like to talk about doing the work.
- 1:20Just do the work.
- 1:23I have to leave out in a wedding in 30 minutes.
- 1:28So this one is gonna be quick and short,
- 1:31but just a reminder to do the work.
- 1:36Yesterday I had a long days of work
- 1:39and preparing for this wedding,
- 1:42doing some research on podcasting and old radio shows,
- 1:50photography, advertising, just the whole gamut.
- 1:56I am loving it.
- 1:57I'm loving the time I have.
- 1:59I did get a chance to read like I mentioned.
- 2:03I'm not gonna have much time to read today.
- 2:06So I'm gonna double up tomorrow, day four.
- 2:12Stay out for that.
- 2:13Stay tuned for that topic.
- 2:14That's gonna be something special.
- 2:17And I'll be a little more well rested.
- 2:19So I'm gonna be in for a treat.
- 2:23But this is a reminder to do the work.
- 2:28I think the goal in life as far as entrepreneurship
- 2:32and owning a business is to be able
- 2:35to write your own job description.
- 2:40Yes, write your own job description.
- 2:47How does that sound?
- 2:50Lovely, right?
- 2:52I mean, who don't wanna get paid
- 2:55for doing what they love?
- 2:59You're getting paid to do what you love to do in life.
- 3:04That is something amazing.
- 3:05That is something special.
- 3:08And don't ever take that moment for granted.
- 3:13Think about those things that you wanna do
- 3:17that you be like, oh, I'm not making money
- 3:20from so-and-so.
- 3:21Are you in this dead-end job and have no way out?
- 3:27Find out a way that you can monetize what you do.
- 3:31If you love writing, figure out how you can
- 3:35turn your writing into publishings and sell it.
- 3:41If you are a poet, which I was,
- 3:44you have to perform in the right places,
- 3:47in the right organizations, the right promoters.
- 3:50You have the right people book you
- 3:52because you will get advantage,
- 3:54took an advantage of.
- 3:55You'll get paid, you'll get paid, yeah.
- 3:59But how much you wanna get paid for it
- 4:03is something to look at.
- 4:04So you have to be in the right places also.
- 4:07Market in the right places.
- 4:09Because a lot of people will undervalue you
- 4:13in what you offer.
- 4:16So make sure you are promoting in the right places,
- 4:19in the right markets.
- 4:20Know your target audience.
- 4:22That's where the gold is at.
- 4:25Like me, I don't step too much
- 4:27out of the side of creative entrepreneurs.
- 4:30If you're creative, if you're an entrepreneur,
- 4:33business owner, creative entrepreneur,
- 4:37that's my core audience,
- 4:39especially young creative entrepreneurs
- 4:42wanting to get into entrepreneurship
- 4:44or start a creative endeavor.
- 4:48I live the lifestyle.
- 4:50Most of my life.
- 4:52I've been into music since I was a young,
- 4:55pre-teen actually.
- 4:58Done it, performed later as a teenager,
- 5:02into my adulthood,
- 5:04and hung it up on the shelves about four years ago.
- 5:08I haven't performed
- 5:11in over three years, yeah.
- 5:14My last performance was three years ago.
- 5:18So I lived my dream.
- 5:21That was a blessing.
- 5:23I'm more of a recording artist,
- 5:26but when I perform, I perform.
- 5:29So if you had the opportunity to check me out
- 5:33back in the day, you were in for a treat.
- 5:39And I hope you loved it and liked it.
- 5:41And I appreciate the support.
- 5:44A lot of people ask me,
- 5:45am I gonna get back to it?
- 5:48I never know.
- 5:50I never know.
- 5:51Cause you never know what life may bring.
- 5:53Life is mysterious.
- 5:55We have control.
- 5:56We should take control,
- 5:57but it's also mysterious.
- 6:00But I am building something even bigger.
- 6:05So I am doing the work.
- 6:09Excuse.
- 6:11And I'm encouraging everyone else to do the work.
- 6:17You have to do the work.
- 6:18There's no other way around it.
- 6:21There's no substitute for work.
- 6:23You have to do the work.
- 6:25Somebody has to do it.
- 6:27So let that be you.
- 6:29Figure out how you can make it easy for yourself.
- 6:34If you want to be more hands-on,
- 6:37be in construction, plumbing,
- 6:41make sure you learn the trade.
- 6:44Learn your craft or whatever you do.
- 6:46Study, study, study.
- 6:48I've been doing photography for over five years now,
- 6:53and I'm constantly studying.
- 6:54I was studying yesterday,
- 6:56looking at old trends
- 7:00and also the advertising behind it.
- 7:04Cause I'm a marketer.
- 7:06I'm always be doing research on,
- 7:09first off my industry and what works for other industry.
- 7:12Hence this podcast,
- 7:14Alienize Photos Industry Talk.
- 7:19So don't be afraid to get behind that computer,
- 7:24go to the library and do that research.
- 7:27You have to do the work.
- 7:29There's no other way.
- 7:31If you don't do the work,
- 7:33it's going to continue to pile up.
- 7:35You know how it is.
- 7:37Why let it pile up and make yourself miserable
- 7:39and depressed and be in a dark, deep, black hole?
- 7:44Why?
- 7:45Just constantly do the work you want to improve.
- 7:50And if you're not where you at in life,
- 7:53you have to do the work.
- 7:55Sometimes double the work to get to where you need to be
- 8:00and want to be.
- 8:02And that's my message to you.
- 8:05I'm about to continue to make sure I have everything
- 8:09for this wedding.
- 8:10It's going to be a nice day, it's sunny.
- 8:14I'm at a great venue, got a great couple.
- 8:17They even prayed with me on the initial cards.
- 8:23We went over the timeline and details of the wedding.
- 8:26So it's like, we're a praying family.
- 8:29Would you like to pray with us?
- 8:30And I said, yes, why not?
- 8:33Let's get this prayer in, yes.
- 8:36And so today is the day and it's a lovely day
- 8:41and it will continue to be a lovely day.
- 8:44So as I'm about to wrap up and get ready to do this work,
- 8:50AKA this wedding, and on top of that,
- 8:53do more work as I continue to build out the podcast
- 8:56and continue to write the ebook and build out this course.
- 9:01It's always worth to do some always doing work
- 9:04and this 10-day social media sabbatical
- 9:07has been great for that.
- 9:09Man, I might do a whole month, y'all.

- 9:15I may pop on for like one day
- 9:18and pop right back off another 10 days
