  1. 0:01Welcome, welcome, welcome.
  2. 0:06This is day six of my social media sabbatical.
  3. 0:13Day six.
  4. 0:15This has truly been an amazing journey.
  5. 0:19I'm going for 10 days,
  6. 0:22but like I always say,
  7. 0:23it's probably gonna be more than 10 days.
  8. 0:26But I might pop on, pop right back off.
  9. 0:30Just to update and check some messages.
  10. 0:34But today I wanna speak on actually social media.
  11. 0:41And everybody know me as a content creator,
  12. 0:44photographer, video producer.
  13. 0:49And with that being said,
  14. 0:53for all my people that's like me and content creators,
  15. 0:57even entrepreneurs, business owners,
  16. 1:02produce, don't consume.
  17. 1:06And what I mean by that when you're on social media,
  18. 1:10produce the content, don't consume the content.
  19. 1:15Like I strategically follow people that I can learn from,
  20. 1:23that I could build with strategic partners
  21. 1:29because especially how the algorithm is now,
  22. 1:33they show you all types of things.
  23. 1:36Even things that you probably don't even wanna see
  24. 1:39or unaware about or suggested follows, suggested people
  25. 1:44that the content that you think that you would like.
  26. 1:50So take control of that.
  27. 1:53I know they have the do not,
  28. 1:58the not interest button and I like this content.
  29. 2:04So the more you like a certain thing,
  30. 2:06the more they're gonna show and suggest.
  31. 2:09So if you don't consume it,
  32. 2:13they're gonna feed you all types of things,
  33. 2:15but it's good to push that not suggested button.
  34. 2:21And I got a good 10 minutes
  35. 2:23before I had to pick up this food here a little bit early.
  36. 2:28So I had 10 minutes.
  37. 2:30I've been on the road for about an hour and a half
  38. 2:34doing this drive and stopping at some food.
  39. 2:40I got 10 minutes before it's ready.
  40. 2:42So I wanna get this episode together
  41. 2:45and just talk about producing the content.
  42. 2:50Versus consuming the content.
  43. 2:54Now, again, if we do consume the content,
  44. 3:00you'll want to follow pages, follow people,
  45. 3:06follow businesses that are aligned with you.
  46. 3:12Like I have a inspirational save tabs and folder
  47. 3:20for people that's doing what I do,
  48. 3:24but at a higher level, almost like a,
  49. 3:31what would you say, a vision board almost,
  50. 3:34a digital vision board that I could just go back
  51. 3:38to reference, look at whenever I need that inspiration.
  52. 3:46And I know a lot of people wake up to their phone,
  53. 3:53wake up, get on social media, consume the content,
  54. 3:56consume the content before they even brush their teeth,
  55. 3:59wash their face, shower, do their morning routine
  56. 4:05and do all of that and then go straight to work.
  57. 4:10So they're miserable when they get to work,
  58. 4:14miserable when they wake up
  59. 4:15because it's not good content all the time.
  60. 4:22It's whatever the social media platform gives them,
  61. 4:25whatever Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or X,
  62. 4:31or whatever platform they may be on, gives them.
  63. 4:36TikTok.
  64. 4:39So if you wake up, do things that are inspirational,
  65. 4:47especially for me since I'm not on social media
  66. 4:50at the moment, I have different books that inspire me.
  67. 4:56So I wake up, stretch, get myself together,
  68. 5:01brush my teeth, shower.
  69. 5:04I used to journal, but not so much.
  70. 5:07Like when I was writing different books,
  71. 5:10writing books, I used to journal a lot,
  72. 5:13my notes, my thoughts to formulate my chapters,
  73. 5:19outline and finish the outline,
  74. 5:23build off the chapters and the manuscript,
  75. 5:26but on the opposite side, instead of writing, I'm reading.
  76. 5:32I'm reading things that are in my industry,
  77. 5:37more about marketing, sales, general business,
  78. 5:41frameworks, offers, and in turn,
  79. 5:48teaching you all that as well.
  80. 5:50And anybody that hired me as a coach,
  81. 5:54know they get the same treatment,
  82. 5:57and I recommend certain books,
  83. 6:01certain topics to study, send them videos,
  84. 6:05inspiration, past things that I have done,
  85. 6:08and I will continue to build out education and have books,
  86. 6:13and building on my first course, so stay tuned for that.
  87. 6:17And again, I'm working on a book in this process
  88. 6:22while I'm away from social media for these 10 days,
  89. 6:24so stay tuned for that.
  90. 6:29And I will have to update the description
  91. 6:32with the link of this book.
  92. 6:35So if you're viewing this or listening to this
  93. 6:42after September or after mid-October,
  94. 6:46you will see the link to the book,
  95. 6:48so be sure to download and purchase it.
  96. 6:52I'm gonna make it a reasonable price,
  97. 6:55and then later in this year,
  98. 6:57I will have a course to pair with it,
  99. 7:00so stay tuned for that.
  100. 7:03Again, produce the content, don't consume it.
  101. 7:08And when I say produce, what is your industry?
  102. 7:14Follow a model of someone that inspires you
  103. 7:20or that's doing big business that you want to be at
  104. 7:26or the level you want to be at, desire to be at.
  105. 7:30Kind of model them.
  106. 7:32Even reach out to them, ask them questions on suggestions
  107. 7:36or how can I get there, how can I be more like you?
  108. 7:40I want to get better.
  109. 7:43Read their books, read their content,
  110. 7:48practice, write your scripts,
  111. 7:53write your content out before you deliver it.
  112. 7:57Practice, practice, practice,
  113. 7:59and the more you practice, the better you can produce,
  114. 8:02and you want to be a high-level producer.
  115. 8:08Like post once or twice a day.
  116. 8:12Like I'm not even posting once or twice a day
  117. 8:14because I was a consumer,
  118. 8:18but now that I'm stepping back and like,
  119. 8:20wow, I have all this content,
  120. 8:22but I haven't even posted it,
  121. 8:25and I can't post it all at once,
  122. 8:27and then the social media platform's
  123. 8:28gonna think I'm spamming.
  124. 8:30I'm posting 100 content pieces a day
  125. 8:34just to catch up for all the times I didn't post.
  126. 8:39So when I do get back on social media,
  127. 8:41I will have a better routine,
  128. 8:43but if you follow on a creator frequency,
  129. 8:47which is my inspirational creative brand
  130. 8:51with my partner Brianna Casanova,
  131. 8:53we're both former music artists,
  132. 8:56and we're currently into visual media,
  133. 8:58podcast production, photography.
  134. 9:02So everything revolves around creativity
  135. 9:05and help inspiring anyone that's viewing us
  136. 9:08on our creative journey to feel inspired to create,
  137. 9:13produce that content, do the work no matter what.
  138. 9:16Like we were in Atlanta,
  139. 9:19and we couldn't bring all of our equipment,
  140. 9:22so we using iron and boards, the iron,
  141. 9:25propping things up on the wall,
  142. 9:27just using the resources that we have in creating
  143. 9:30no matter what we created.
  144. 9:33And speaking on that inspiration
  145. 9:36and the people that's at a higher level,
  146. 9:39David Shands, who also is a business coach
  147. 9:42and has a podcast.
  148. 9:44I actually had the opportunity to run with him.
  149. 9:48I attended the podcast summit in Atlanta
  150. 9:51and had the opportunity to run with him
  151. 9:53and ask him a few questions.
  152. 9:56So continue to do the work.
  153. 9:59And you know, you could be where you want to be,
  154. 10:03continue to produce, continue to do the work,
  155. 10:07and you will get there.
  156. 10:11Again, I appreciate you listening as always.
  157. 10:16This is photographer Jackson,
  158. 10:17Steve Jackson of Alien Eyes Photos Media
  159. 10:21bringing you Alien Eyes Photos industry talk
  160. 10:24here, here, here.
  161. 10:27And I wanted to make this a little longer,
  162. 10:29but I got to pick up my food.
  163. 10:31I am so hungry and exhausted.
  164. 10:34I was dozing off on the road,
  165. 10:36but I'm glad I made it, pulled over,
  166. 10:39got here a little bit early.
  167. 10:40So I want to knock this episode out
  168. 10:43because I'll be busy for the rest of the day.
  169. 10:47And once I get back home,
  170. 10:49I have a lot of work to do
  171. 10:51and catch up on before I leave town.
  172. 10:56So yeah, got a big conference this weekend.
  173. 11:02I got to get a lot of things in order.
  174. 11:04I got a few projects I got to wrap up.
  175. 11:07I still have to pack,
  176. 11:09so I have a lot to do.
  177. 11:12But again, produce, don't consume your own social media.
  178. 11:19Again, this is photographer Jackson
  179. 11:21bringing you Alien Eyes Photos industry talk.
  180. 11:24I appreciate you listening as always.
