- 0:00Welcome, welcome, welcome, this is day 10.
- 0:09I made it y'all, day 10 of my social media sabbatical.
- 0:14Let's talk about establishing trust.
- 0:20Establishing trust is powerful.
- 0:25I remember the Dalai Lama mentioned that
- 0:31you can't buy trust in the supermarket.
- 0:38Now that is powerful, that's not the full quote,
- 0:42but I remember that when he said
- 0:44you cannot buy trust in the supermarket.
- 0:50What do you think about that?
- 0:53I believe trust is the foundation of all transactions.
- 1:01People don't want to waste money,
- 1:04they don't want poor quality,
- 1:06and they don't want to be treated unfairly.
- 1:11And if they don't trust you,
- 1:14or if they feel like they're going to waste their money,
- 1:18they're going to give poor quality,
- 1:20poor service, a poor product, be treated unfairly.
- 1:26They will walk away.
- 1:29Now, trust is big for entrepreneurs and business owners,
- 1:35even creatives, creative entrepreneurs.
- 1:39As you build customer loyalty and retention,
- 1:46you don't want those one-time buyers,
- 1:49you want to build a relationship, be a rapport,
- 1:54have them trust you.
- 1:59It lowers barriers, lowering barriers
- 2:04so they could buy again and maybe buy more products
- 2:09or explore more of your services.
- 2:14Build that relationship, be a rapport.
- 2:18You want to establish trust with your partners,
- 2:24your suppliers, your investors, your employers,
- 2:30employees, everyone that you do business with.
- 2:38You want to establish that trust.
- 2:42It is important and enables growth and builds partnerships.
- 2:52It provides resilience through challenges.
- 2:58You know, people give you the benefit of doubt
- 3:02and time to make things right.
- 3:06Without that trust, the same crisis could be fatal
- 3:11to your business.
- 3:15Trust reduces friction and also costs.
- 3:20If they trust you, don't have all the means
- 3:27or all the funds, but make it up to them,
- 3:32they will have to trust you,
- 3:35that you will make it up to them
- 3:37and that you really don't have the funds
- 3:39and that you're not trying to get over on them
- 3:42and that you're really trying to work with them
- 3:44for the long term.
- 3:48Trust is big with negotiations.
- 3:52No one wants to feel one-sided
- 3:54or like they're getting controlled
- 3:57or they're getting taken advantage of.
- 4:02Trust, trust, trust.
- 4:05You have to establish that trust.
- 4:12It's big for your credibility, you know.
- 4:17Getting positive testimonials and reviews
- 4:20and case studies, validation is great for referrals.
- 4:28If people trust you and they build trust with you
- 4:33and you build trust with them,
- 4:36they're gonna refer you to their friends,
- 4:39their partners, their family.
- 4:45It's just simple as that.
- 4:48That's how you gain more business.
- 4:51That's how you become more trustworthy,
- 4:54more credible and have consistent business
- 4:59with many, many people, man.
- 5:01Again, with your suppliers, your investors and partners
- 5:06because you become reliable,
- 5:09want to be transparent and honest.
- 5:13Be as transparent and honest by being open.
- 5:20That's a good business practice
- 5:23and it's good for pricing and decision-making.
- 5:29Now, there's many different ways to build trust
- 5:33and establish trust
- 5:36and those are similar ways,
- 5:39but it's truly being authentic
- 5:42and having clear, very clear communication
- 5:47with your customers, your stakeholders,
- 5:51the public, your partners
- 5:56and especially your employees and contractors.
- 6:01No matter what businesses you're in,
- 6:05you have to have trust with everyone you work with
- 6:11and everyone who is consuming your product or service.
- 6:15It is very, very important and vital.
- 6:21Now, people love working with me
- 6:28because I'm open and honest
- 6:32and if I'm behind on a deadline,
- 6:35then I am brutally open and honest
- 6:39and I communicate that
- 6:41and I've built trust with different people.
- 6:44Even if I missed a deadline
- 6:47or run it behind a couple of days,
- 6:51you have to communicate
- 6:54and you still have to be reliable
- 6:57and you still have to deliver consistently.
- 7:03Just be transparent and honest.
- 7:05That's the biggest way to establish trust
- 7:09in your field, in your industry.
- 7:13Once you break that trust
- 7:15or feel like you're not trustworthy,
- 7:19oh, it's hard.
- 7:21It is very hard to get it back.
- 7:27Now, there's many times where I work with people
- 7:34that wasn't trustworthy.
- 7:37I thought that was a good fit.
- 7:38I thought that was one of the top of the industry to pass,
- 7:45but something rubbed me the wrong way.
- 7:50I felt like I couldn't trust them
- 7:54or trust them anymore.
- 7:58And my gut was right.
- 8:04I couldn't trust them
- 8:06or anything that they were saying
- 8:09and just talking about over delivering
- 8:11when they didn't even deliver at all.
- 8:15And that hurts.
- 8:16And there's a lot of people,
- 8:18let's use the real estate industry.
- 8:20As I'm currently in Vegas,
- 8:23yes, I made it to Vegas.
- 8:26About to attend the BPcon
- 8:28and I'll be doing some BPcon recaps,
- 8:31so stay tuned for that.
- 8:36But if you're working with different contractors
- 8:39as an investor and you paid them all the money upfront
- 8:44and they don't have the right business license
- 8:48or identification or bond numbers,
- 8:52and you trust them and you give them all the money
- 8:55upfront and they do none of the work
- 8:58and they run off with the money,
- 9:01then what?
- 9:03You left without a finished project,
- 9:09unfinished home, non-renovated,
- 9:13and no capital, no money.
- 9:17You trust them a little too much,
- 9:19a little too quickly, a little too hard.
- 9:24It's damaging and it hurts.
- 9:27But they'll report, interview,
- 9:31talk with these people, build that trust,
- 9:35establish trust first, have them trust you,
- 9:43then trust them by asking qualifying questions.
- 9:48Start little upfront, ease your way into the relationship
- 9:55and then start paying out more or doing more work
- 10:02and being consistent,
- 10:04but have that clear communication upfront.
- 10:09It's just powerful.
- 10:12And again, I made it to Vegas finally,
- 10:17so I'm looking forward to BP Con
- 10:20and establishing trust with many of these
- 10:23real estate investors and real estate agents
- 10:28and looking for strategic partners.
- 10:31Maybe I can help them with podcasts,
- 10:34production or video production in general
- 10:37as I am in the media field
- 10:41and I'm sure they have the money
- 10:44and they need content or they need visuals
- 10:48for their property,
- 10:50whether that's video walkthroughs
- 10:52or pictures of these houses, mansions, buildings.
- 10:59So, I have to shake hands, establish that trust,
- 11:04build that rapport, tell them my story,
- 11:08tell them all that I've done and be honest and candid.
- 11:13If I haven't done something, I will let them know,
- 11:16but I'm interested in learning and growing
- 11:18and trying it out.
- 11:21This may be my first time, this may be my 10th time,
- 11:24this may be my 100th time.
- 11:27I'm trying, never ever done it or never even heard of it,
- 11:31but I have to be brutally honest and transparent.
- 11:37I have to be vulnerable
- 11:38and people have to be vulnerable with me,
- 11:41but we have to get to that point.
- 11:44So, start slowly, establish that trust in the right way,
- 11:51ask those qualifying questions.
- 11:54So, how do you feel?
- 11:58How do you establish trust?
- 12:01I gave you some ways and some examples.
- 12:05I really wanna know how you establish trust,
- 12:07how you build that rapport with others
- 12:09and gain loyal customers and retention
- 12:13and keep people coming back and referring your business
- 12:17and your products and your services and your artworks.
- 12:22What helps you grow and build partners?
- 12:28Establish trust with different investors and suppliers
- 12:31and strategic partners and gain good employees.
- 12:40That's what I'm thinking about, right?
- 12:44Existing trust can act as a buffer
- 12:47instead of a barrier that reduces a lot of friction.
- 12:56If I could trust or count on someone
- 12:59in a pinch, I'm not able to be there physically.
- 13:06I trust this person dearly.
- 13:11That is so good, a great feeling.
- 13:18When you would just count on somebody
- 13:21and you know they're gonna get the job done
- 13:23and do it well, maybe sometimes better than you,
- 13:29and that's all about hiring the right people
- 13:33or contractors and not being afraid to delegate.
- 13:37You have to gain that trust
- 13:40and they have to gain that trust with you.
- 13:44It's important to establish trust in your life,
- 13:49in your business, in your relationships,
- 13:53whether that's friendships, partnerships,
- 13:56romantic relationships with your family,
- 14:01with your job, employers and employees, colleagues.
- 14:10It's important to establish trust, all right?
- 14:15So again, establish that trust and build rapport.
- 14:20Make sure your credibility goes a long way.
- 14:24You want people to refer you in your business,
- 14:26you're broadening your service.
- 14:30Establish that trust.
