  1. 0:00Now, this is technically day 11 of my social media sabbatical.
  2. 0:10I've been fasting for 10 and a half, about to be 11 days.
  3. 0:15And let's recap.
  4. 0:19This is photographer Jackson, Steve Jackson of Alien Eyes Photos Media.
  5. 0:25And this is Alien Eyes Photos industry talk.
  6. 0:29And I've did a 10 day series on my social media sabbatical.
  7. 0:37So I've been fasting for now, going on 11 days.
  8. 0:42Cheers, clap, claps.
  9. 0:45Now let's do a quick recap.
  10. 0:48Now day one, I talked about detoxing.
  11. 0:52That's a good episode to listen to.
  12. 0:55If you want to get rid of anything that's holding you back in your life,
  13. 1:03whether that's physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally,
  14. 1:08you know how we cling on things and things cling on to us.
  15. 1:12We have to get rid of it.
  16. 1:13We have to detox.
  17. 1:14We have to declutter.
  18. 1:16We have to freshen up, cut loose.
  19. 1:20Now, as I started detoxing, I'm like, okay, what are my habits?
  20. 1:25This is going to lead me back to this, where I have to detox again.
  21. 1:29So day two, I checked my habits.
  22. 1:32And us as creative entrepreneurs, we have to find our flow,
  23. 1:39find the good habits.
  24. 1:41And sometimes we have to let some bad habits go,
  25. 1:45our old habits that no longer serve us.
  26. 1:48And we have to learn new habits.
  27. 1:51So that's a good episode about habits, giving you that good reminder.
  28. 1:58Day three, after I detox and cut some bad habits
  29. 2:05and gained some new habits and reading more, I had to do the work.
  30. 2:15What is the work that I am not doing in a tiny manner
  31. 2:20or focusing on fully?
  32. 2:23Hmm.
  33. 2:25I'm not doing it to 90 to 100%.
  34. 2:29I need to get to that.
  35. 2:3465, 70, 73.
  36. 2:38No, it's not cutting it.
  37. 2:4090 and above.
  38. 2:41It's a passing grade.
  39. 2:43Of course we may slip and do, you know, 84, 85%.
  40. 2:49That's still decent.
  41. 2:52But 90 to 100.
  42. 2:54I want to give this 90 to 100% on anything and everything that I do,
  43. 3:00no matter if I feel like I feel it now.
  44. 3:03I made it to Vegas.
  45. 3:05Here at BPcon and still going hard.
  46. 3:10But it's just being around the hotel and the casino area.
  47. 3:16It's just smoking as we had to go to our rooms.
  48. 3:20We got lost.
  49. 3:22Luggage handle broke.
  50. 3:24It was just chaos.
  51. 3:25We were really looking for a room.
  52. 3:28We got 30 minutes checking in, had to go back other side.
  53. 3:31They moved us, downgraded our room.
  54. 3:34It was a lot of stuff.
  55. 3:36But I'm not used to cigarettes smoking, being around it for long periods of time.
  56. 3:42And it congested me.
  57. 3:43So that's the reason I sound like this.
  58. 3:48Even talking about the sound, day four, communicate.
  59. 3:53Day four, I connect and communicated with many people that I haven't spoke to in months.
  60. 4:04Some weeks, but months.
  61. 4:08It was good.
  62. 4:10It was fresh.
  63. 4:11And it was long.
  64. 4:13I had some good lengthy conversations.
  65. 4:16So I got to connect and reconnect and communicate.
  66. 4:21And that's what I focus on day four and the earlier stages of my social media sabbatical.
  67. 4:30As I took it, everybody started hitting me up.
  68. 4:33Like, oh man, I'm glad you're doing this.
  69. 4:36I know it's a good time to find you or contact you because you're doing this and you can really focus on it.
  70. 4:43So a lot of people took advantage of my social media sabbatical and contacted me personally through my phone line.
  71. 4:53So yeah, I guess when I take my next social media sabbatical, you really need to talk to me or you need coaching one-on-one.
  72. 5:02It's a good time to do that.
  73. 5:04And day five, to help build all this out, we had to figure out a method, our SOPs, our systems, what worked for us.
  74. 5:19So I focus on power of system.
  75. 5:27The power of systems is crucial.
  76. 5:31It's critical.
  77. 5:33It is needed to keep you organized and also for your growth.
  78. 5:40It would save lots of headaches on the back end.
  79. 5:45Get your systems together, y'all.
  80. 5:48Now, day six, as I'm kind of a little over the halfway mark at that point, you know, thinking about when I get back on social media,
  81. 6:01I just wanted to send a reminder that be a producer of the content versus a consumer of the content.
  82. 6:14Be a producer, not a consumer of the content, especially of the content for your industry and what drives the marketing and eyeballs to your business, your brand,
  83. 6:31your personal brand as a creative entrepreneur.
  84. 6:37Be a producer of the content, not a consumer.
  85. 6:40Don't just scroll, scroll, and scroll up and down and like and da da da da da da da da.
  86. 6:50Give yourself a limit. Yeah, there's a time for that.
  87. 6:53Like me, two minutes, because I got a five-minute social media limit and I got to post to do this.
  88. 7:03So one or two minutes, I may engage, I may like, but I'm not doing all this up and down scrolling no more.
  89. 7:11You don't catch me in the first two seconds of scrolling.
  90. 7:18That's all I have. I'm not going back to my old ways, my old habits.
  91. 7:22I set a five-minute limit. And for the week, I think I've only been on social media 20 minutes as I was getting off.
  92. 7:38And I'm like, well, let me see if I can do five.
  93. 7:41So I've limited myself to five.
  94. 7:46So when I get back on, I want to limit myself to five or less.
  95. 7:52Maybe get on social media every other day once I get back on.
  96. 7:57So we shall see. Day seven.
  97. 8:02Are you satisfied? Are you satisfied with what you are doing?
  98. 8:08What is your satisfaction? What keeps you satisfied?
  99. 8:15How can you be satisfied? What drives you to satisfaction?
  100. 8:24Day eight. Now, talk about being satisfied.
  101. 8:31Day eight was about your perfect digital image or your digital image in general.
  102. 8:37But perfect digital image, especially for the females.
  103. 8:44They want to be beautified and perfect. Oh, I can't do this without makeup.
  104. 8:49And comparing themselves to other females and creators.
  105. 8:55Man to man to other man. I want to be like that.
  106. 8:58I don't care how the ladies are the money, the cars, the house and women with the bodies and make all the other stuff on both sides.
  107. 9:09Comparing or even a lifestyle and business and entrepreneurship.
  108. 9:14Oh, I'm not there, but I want to be like them and their business and how they do things.
  109. 9:20I'm not marking myself how they do it because it's successful with them, but you're not satisfied.
  110. 9:26So go back one day, day seven. Satisfaction. I have my daughter with me. So that was a big one.
  111. 9:33What keeps you satisfied? How can you be satisfied?
  112. 9:38But your digital image is not always be perfect. Stop comparing yourself.
  113. 9:45Live your journey. Document your journey. Be a producer, not a consumer.
  114. 9:50See how it's all tied together?
  115. 9:54Because day nine was about digital awareness.
  116. 10:00Is it awareness?
  117. 10:07Digital awareness.
  118. 10:14That was a big one. I stumbled. I personally stumbled day nine.
  119. 10:19It was late. I was.
  120. 10:22Yeah, yeah, that's yeah.
  121. 10:29Yeah. But I brought awareness to awareness and also digital awareness and evolution and how to kind of overcome that.
  122. 10:43As I threw the alley from day nine to day ten.
  123. 10:47To establish trust.
  124. 10:52And people love working with people they know, like and trust.
  125. 10:56But trust to me is one of the biggest.
  126. 11:00The second would be love.
  127. 11:03People may know you. People may not. People may not know me.
  128. 11:07People may get to know me a little bit, but want to know more.
  129. 11:12But if they don't trust me, they ain't gonna want to know more about me.
  130. 11:16They ain't gonna love me. So they have to trust me.
  131. 11:21So we spoke about how to establish trust in day ten and that was a good maybe my second favorite one.
  132. 11:31I think habits was maybe my favorite one because it's a good reminder to myself what habits and new habits that I'm picking up.
  133. 11:40Am I maintaining my habits? Can I approve of my habits?
  134. 11:43I can't even make what I'm doing even better.
  135. 11:49So I think habits was my first one day two out of all of them.
  136. 11:54But getting this started would be detox day one.
  137. 12:02That would be my top three. I recommend day two with habits.
  138. 12:06Number two, day ten, establish trust.
  139. 12:12And number three from my top three of my social media sabbatical episodes.
  140. 12:18Day one, detox, because without the start, you can get rid of stuff.
  141. 12:23A lot of this won't even matter because you would still be stuck in ways.
  142. 12:29Day one and day two is perfect. If you don't listen to nothing else or follow anything else,
  143. 12:33follow day one and day two, detox and going over your habits and follow it up with establish trust.
  144. 12:43You'll be welling away to a million dollar day.
  145. 12:47And I'm trying to get my million dollar day. I'm trying to get a million dollars in general.
  146. 12:52So let's continue this path.
  147. 12:55I'm on the path of my first six figures and then I'm going for my first million.
  148. 13:01So. Help a brother out.
  149. 13:05This is photographer Jackson, Steve Jackson of Alienize Photos.
  150. 13:09Give me the recap of my ten day social media sabbatical.
  151. 13:15And be sure to check out the book.
  152. 13:19Ten day social media sabbatical by Stephen D Jackson.
  153. 13:25Yes, I really did the work.
  154. 13:26We are in a documented process.
  155. 13:29I've actually included some personal stories, some even some helpful tips to go along with the episodes.
  156. 13:38You know, give you a little more juice and meat for the look.
  157. 13:44Yeah, take it in, digest it.
  158. 13:48It's good. It's nourishing as we detox with habits and doing nowhere to connect and communicate
  159. 13:54the power of systems produced, not consumed.
  160. 14:00Are you satisfied? What is your satisfaction?
  161. 14:05Oh, your perfect digital image online, digital awareness and established trust.
  162. 14:13That is day one through day ten.
  163. 14:16And I will give you a little bit more talking about what I've learned,
  164. 14:22giving you my results, the back end and behind the scenes.
  165. 14:28And a little tidbit on how I'm going to build out the course that pairs with the book.
  166. 14:34That one is going to be major.
  167. 14:36Hopefully I have this done by the end of this year, if not early next year.
  168. 14:41Got a few projects, client collaborations I'm doing.
  169. 14:47Two more conferences here in Vegas, BPCON as I do this recap of my social media sabbatical.
  170. 14:56This is day 11, y'all.
  171. 14:58I ain't loving it.
  172. 15:00All right, but I got to attend to these duties in this conference and drink some more tea.
  173. 15:07Man, I can't believe this.
  174. 15:09Golly.
  175. 15:12But I made it, y'all.
  176. 15:16Ten days, ten days social media sabbatical.
  177. 15:19Check out my documented process.
  178. 15:23Check out the whole series, day one through day ten of my social media sabbatical.
  179. 15:29Take your own social media sabbatical, even if it's one day.
  180. 15:35Try it out and then try it for a week.
  181. 15:37I'm used to doing a week, twice a year.
  182. 15:42This time I did ten days.
  183. 15:45Yay, look what I did.
  184. 15:46I made progress.
  185. 15:47I was more productive, focused, and I love that I enjoyed my time away from social media.
  186. 15:54But I'll be back probably tonight.
  187. 15:57I'll be getting on tonight.
  188. 15:59So yeah, this is day 11.

  194. 16:34you want to book me as a coach and let's have some ideation sessions and build a strategy for both.
  195. 16:42Booking me as a photographer or for video production or a coach.
  196. 16:48One of the three or even more.
  197. 16:50I do a lot, but those are my three pillars.

  213. 17:45We did it.
  214. 17:46We made it.

  216. 17:49Peace.
