  1. 0:01Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome to Alienize Photos industry talk with your host
  2. 0:10photographer Jackson, alien Steven Jackson, the author, the photographer, which we share a common
  3. 0:20entrance where we first met being each other's models and photographers and shooting together
  4. 0:28really learning together and growing together. I gotta say at one point you were my coach,
  5. 0:33you know, you're younger than me. So it was also an honor to do so many great things together.
  6. 0:40What said, oh my goodness, going out of the state, flying. I commend you for that. That was all.
  7. 0:52Well, yeah, definitely wouldn't expect all that, but thank you.
  8. 0:59Unpack it, but want to introduce yourself to the audience here. My name is. All right.
  9. 1:14My name is Lay. All right. Hold on one more time.
  10. 1:20But yeah, thank you so much. Definitely appreciate that. And yeah, my name is Lay Lay,
  11. 1:29freelance photographer. I go to Kent State now and yeah, we did a hell of a lot of stuff.
  12. 1:37Oh my goodness, we went to San Diego, pulled the 360 booth across that San Diego beach.
  13. 1:45That was the experience. That was the whole experience. And I needed my partner.
  14. 1:50I had to. I needed my partner. That was a lot.
  15. 1:59The emotion that we captured that day is like, man, just a experience like everybody
  16. 2:07experience because sometimes we hold in that hurt and that pain. And it's like,
  17. 2:14you know, I got through my own stuff, but just to see it on another level,
  18. 2:18you know, someone's family member, you know, son, brother, sister,
  19. 2:24auntie, mother, like go through this and heavy and you can really feel it.
  20. 2:35And like, I'm looking at that, like this flash, that wave, the sea of emotions,
  21. 2:43energy, emotion. And I'd like to ask a lot of the creators this question describing
  22. 2:52your creator process. How would you describe it as a weather forecast?
  23. 2:59Describing my creative process as a weather would be a little bit over all over the place,
  24. 3:15honestly. Like I would describe it like Cleveland weather. Anything can happen tomorrow.
  25. 3:25It'd be the hottest days, it'd be the coldest days, it'd be the warmest days,
  26. 3:31the coolest days. Anything can happen. Like anything, like whether the storm,
  27. 3:38like the storm come, it rain, it pours my emotions. I put my emotions into my projects too.
  28. 3:45So I do get myself into it. It do be the tears pouring. It do be the
  29. 3:54cries and the hurting and trying to actually get things perfect. But really interesting to
  30. 4:01compare it to the weather. Let's say just like how Cleveland weather is,
  31. 4:04like why are we right there by the lake? Like yes, we get everything. We get the
  32. 4:10hail, snow, rain, wind blowing, then the sun come out. That's me all in the day, honestly. I mean
  33. 4:18it might sound a little bipolar, it probably is, but it really sounds a little bit over all
  34. 4:22over the place. But yes, in a day I could do three photo shoots. I say three because they
  35. 4:28still got time to take to get across town, but I can do it. How long are your photo shoots?
  36. 4:34At least two hours at the least. So two. So, you know, so six hours. Yeah. Yeah. And working
  37. 4:41that out. You got to sleep sometimes. Drive time, eight hours. Yeah. So I'm driving all
  38. 4:48across Ohio. Sometimes I go to Michigan. Hell, we'll see about Pennsylvania, but.
  39. 4:55Well, it sounds like you travel a lot. What's your favorite place to travel? Sandusky.
  40. 5:06Um, the drive there is pretty much straight from Cleveland where I'm at, just straight.
  41. 5:12Like that's pretty, that's not bad at all. I don't mind getting on the toll. I don't mind
  42. 5:17taking the streets. I don't, that's cool. Um, but yeah, Sandusky got my favorite stores out
  43. 5:23there. Same stores we got in Cleveland, same store they got out there, but they got more
  44. 5:27stores out there. Great. Love it. Yeah. And no, I don't do the Cedar Point stuff. I go to
  45. 5:33Kalahari. We go to Kalahari all the time though. Yeah. Oh yeah. I've definitely been
  46. 5:42with E-Rock. You know, my life partner, you know, encouraged me, wanted me for a while.
  47. 5:49Finally got it. And we shot a music video for E-Rock. I don't know if you heard
  48. 5:55Higher. But yeah, we shot that out and yeah, Cedar Point. It was, it was wild. It was
  49. 6:06awesome. Like, oh, well you can't get your camera on the rollercoaster. Yeah. I mean,
  50. 6:16I got glasses that record, you know, that's nice. Meta glasses. Yeah. Can't wait to see
  51. 6:23that. I need to talk to the big company so that they can give me the sponsor. Yeah. I gotta
  52. 6:28show examples of my work, but with the teamwork, I love teamwork and you know,
  53. 6:34we've done a lot of projects together. What would you say was your favorite project
  54. 6:38as your partner? With you specifically, I'll show y'all. We can still talk. I'm actually
  55. 6:49reaching into my camera bag. I'm not too far from it. I'm actually grabbing it right here.
  56. 6:52I actually keep it as a portfolio, but yeah, where was this taken? You see this? I mean,
  57. 7:04honestly, I would call it the Bonnie and Clyde type of theme deal here. Yeah. But I mean,
  58. 7:10honestly, yes, I did print mostly pictures of me. Let's be honest here. I did, but you,
  59. 7:14I got some pictures of you in here too. Yes, I did. And yes, I like to print out pictures.
  60. 7:22Yes. I like to print out pictures. I like to have physical copies. Yes. I love it. I will
  61. 7:30re-edit them though. Like, yeah, we could. Oh my goodness. No, we need to post them.
  62. 7:34First off, everybody, we ain't never posted them. Y'all don't even know.
  63. 7:39But I printed them out. Yeah. This is part of my portfolio. Our theme was to,
  64. 7:48I guess, wear something red. I wore a red velvet dress. The green and the grass pop with the blue
  65. 7:56in the background and the sky. And some of the pictures came out black and white too,
  66. 8:01but you know, that works out. I love the black and white. That could be the contrast.
  67. 8:06You know, it's very well. I love it. So definitely had to print out these pictures.
  68. 8:13Hopefully we'll be posting these soon. We'll see.
  69. 8:16Wow. Look out for the project. We definitely had to.
  70. 8:23You already know. We should actually be recording you looking through it. How about that?
  71. 8:29Right. Mm hmm. Oh, where the flag at? Yes.
  72. 9:04Where that flag at? We need it. I need another shoot. I need another shoot. Hold on. I need
  73. 9:10another shoot. Where that flag at? Then we put it on the time. I had to jump in there. Look
  74. 9:15love it. Oh, y'all. I love using the timer. Y'all will see me out shooting by myself. I'm an
  75. 9:23actress, model, photographer, videographer. I will shoot. I wanted to be behind the scenes
  76. 9:28that day. Like that's crazy. We do the timer. The timer helps. I will buy one by the way.
  77. 9:34Just let me know how much. How you put together a little thing. Where is it? Oh,
  78. 9:43shit. Take it back. Y'all can't even see this. Yeah. Love that. Love that. That was beautiful.
  79. 9:50Merging the brands. That was beautiful. That was really nice, y'all.
  80. 9:53That was a day. Oh, that's funny how I got the camera.
  81. 10:01I just saw that. Oh, my God. No, that's terrible. But this bow. But why your head
  82. 10:07turned around? You're taking the picture. Come on. You see it. Oh,
  83. 10:16when it showed my face, that is hilarious. That's hilarious. I didn't do that on purpose.
  84. 10:23Only peeps of women. I mean, do you want an actual copy of this? You can have this.
  85. 10:28Yes, you can have that. I've shown a million people by now.
  86. 10:32I need another billion. Another billion. But yeah, I love that. Yes, I keep that in my
  87. 10:39bag, right? They'd be like, let me see a picture. Hey, this is crazy. I am gorgeous.
  88. 10:57I love this. So crazy. How long ago was this? 2020. I should have put the year on.
  89. 11:04Pre-Covid. I should have put the year on. But we don't like pictures with the timestamps
  90. 11:11no more. We was like, we know this is probably going to be our last photo shoot.
  91. 11:14We're about to do it up. We can't go outside. Can't see nobody. But hey, we did it. Yeah,
  92. 11:19we had the whole. It was crazy. I remember. Oh, let me show you another one. You know,
  93. 11:27you know what? That's crazy. I mean, that was my favorite one. Yes, I think I answered
  94. 11:31your question. Yes, that was my favorite one. Oh, tuesday. Melton Magnus. 20. Yeah,
  95. 11:43that wasn't too far off, though. Now, the first picture in this book is one of my
  96. 11:53my very first photo shoot like ever. I asked a bunch of my friends to go to an abandoned
  97. 11:57building. And we did like our little Black Lives Matter theme type poses pictures. And
  98. 12:02this picture got into a gallery and we actually called it breaking. But yeah,
  99. 12:09and I called it breaking, got into a gallery about 2016. Love it. The rest of this book,
  100. 12:15protest day, 2020. I believe May pictures. Plenty of these bury me in the ocean with
  101. 12:26the ancestors who jumped from the ships because they knew death was better than bondage. I
  102. 12:40actually went out with alien. He got a little bit closer than me when getting that close.
  103. 12:45It's not getting that close to the riots. Now they started throwing tear gas. It's time
  104. 12:50I definitely did. Um, shooting without bullets was a youth activism program where we
  105. 13:10expressed our social where we shoot. All right. Shooting without bullets is a social justice
  106. 13:19youth arts program where I express my photography using our Black Lives Matter theme,
  107. 13:28using more of our abandoned buildings for photo shoots, using more real life people
  108. 13:34in walking through our neighborhoods. So lots of pictures like that. That book is our protest day
  109. 13:41here in Cleveland. We've done a project like that, but that's definitely something, you know,
  110. 13:51merging reality and what you see in your environment and making art out of it.
  111. 13:56Definitely better way to say that. So you're artists. What does art mean to you?
  112. 14:04I mean, art means everything to me. Art is creativity. Art is science. Art is mass.
  113. 14:10Art is everything. I chose to go to school to be a director to think I would be just
  114. 14:17doing art. What did I really think art was? Not hard work. Okay. Not precise measurements.
  115. 14:29Uh, you know, not having to be precise, but that's okay. So I'm taking theater classes.
  116. 14:41I'm thinking I'm just acting. No, I get sewing because I can make costumes from scratch,
  117. 14:49period costumes from different eras. I got to learn how to do the diff do saw sanders and
  118. 14:59constructing building a set with screws, nails, staple crown, staples and
  119. 15:05difference in staples and saws. Well rounded, right? So art is everything to me. When I get up,
  120. 15:15I got to cook something to eat. I got to think of something created to eat. I want
  121. 15:18strawberry, something sweet with something else, right? I want to, oh my goodness,
  122. 15:24don't get me started on germs. Okay. Cause I do carry around disinfectant wipes with me.
  123. 15:32You ever wipe some and you see it change the color. Oh my God. Don't start with me.
  124. 15:42To literally the things I see. I'm a photographer. I see details. I see dirt.
  125. 15:47I keep disinfectant wipes with me. Period. I'm not going to go into that,
  126. 15:53but I see things. I see different things that people don't see.
  127. 15:56I'll tell you to fix your necklace. Cause your clasp is in the front, you know,
  128. 16:01I'll tell you to like, um, pick up your shirt. It's tucked in your pants the wrong way. I'm just,
  129. 16:06Hey, this is, this is true. And these probably examples about me. I'm like, oh yeah,
  130. 16:13I'm not picking with you. Fix it. I'm some of these examples.
  131. 16:20Yeah. Definitely attention to detail. And you know, that's the beauty of a team,
  132. 16:24you know, having each other's back. And especially if you're not keen to those
  133. 16:29specific details, you know, let me focus on one thing. It's always good to have somebody to
  134. 16:35have your back and take care of those details and point them out.
  135. 16:43And many times, even, uh, setting up a tripod, the base of the legs.
  136. 16:47And I'm telling everybody, no. They better be parallel.
  137. 16:54Yeah. And that's a tripod for the phone. Nobody care about that.
  138. 16:57But this camera, this camera better be right.
  139. 17:01Them lights. Oh, them lights better be right. My phone tripod, that ring light.
  140. 17:06I don't care about that. Yeah. Just yeah. I'm like, yeah. Okay.
  141. 17:13It's details is very much. There's a lot of details. I enjoy the details. I'm a Virgo.
  142. 17:17So I think I'm a detailed type of person. All in the detail.
  143. 17:24All in the detail. That's crazy.
  144. 17:28Have you ever seen those books before? Those like, have you ever seen those?
  145. 17:37I've seen the pictures, nothing. Right. I've seen this book. Yeah.
  146. 17:41Okay. That's all I was about to say. I was like, have I ever showed you?
  147. 17:44I don't think I've ever showed you. I don't remember. All right. Cool.
  148. 17:47Yeah. So that's what should like three top art forms.
  149. 18:11Three top art forms. That's a good question.
  150. 18:15I mean, what do you really mean though? Like just be a little bit more specific
  151. 18:19because I mean, I love art, but be a little bit more specific.
  152. 18:21Well, you dance, you act, photography. Right.
  153. 18:26I can say a lot of, you know, even doing off stage stuff and behind the scenes,
  154. 18:32you know, woodwork, like you said, setting up stages, costume, wardrobe.
  155. 18:38So diverse. I don't want to limit your creativity because, you know, everybody
  156. 18:44called me alien because I'm so multifaceted, talented, creative, imaginative
  157. 18:51out of this world, higher level thinking, you know, genius level
  158. 18:58speaker, thinker, strategist. So I definitely get it.
  159. 19:04So with you doing a lot, what's your top three things?
  160. 19:09Whether creativity, behind the scenes, maybe it's financial, being a financial
  161. 19:16banker, manager, investor. Or it could be something creative.
  162. 19:23Yeah, I'm about to say them sound like categories. So it just got to be
  163. 19:28a little bit more specific to me because like you said, what's my favorite book?
  164. 19:32You know, not even my favorite book, my favorite photo shoot that we did.
  165. 19:37Cool. That's specific. I can find that. But like that, I could find that.
  166. 19:42But I have more pictures, though. You know, I have plenty more photo shoots,
  167. 19:47thousands of fucking pictures and all that. But my favorite, I mean,
  168. 19:51I can't really narrow it because I do everything at once.
  169. 19:56Like I said, art is everything. So like that full control.
  170. 20:01Oh, no, you got to still be more specific.
  171. 20:04You like full control over whatever you create?
  172. 20:08I mean, I want a team. I don't like doing this stuff by myself.
  173. 20:15I don't want to do everything by myself.
  174. 20:16I'm completely capable of doing entirely everything by myself,
  175. 20:20but I don't want to do it by myself.
  176. 20:24So what would you say is the first thing that comes to mind as far as creating?
  177. 20:28Like, I want to I want to be behind the camera.
  178. 20:32I want to be in front of the camera. I want to be dancing.
  179. 20:34I want to.
  180. 20:36It was like the first thing that like I want to do this first
  181. 20:38and then everything could work around me doing this.
  182. 20:41Well, then that's just bringing out my camera.
  183. 20:43Like, now we're going we're going to do a little behind the scenes
  184. 20:46and shoot there real quick.
  185. 20:49All right. Now we back.
  186. 20:50So like all this stuff right here, this is what I do.
  187. 20:53This is me. I keep a tripod on me.
  188. 20:56I keep it on a whole pole.
  189. 21:00Now, keep it on me.
  190. 21:01Right. I keeps my camera on me, whether my phone and all that.
  191. 21:05Right. Within my old little programs, we used to have a little joke
  192. 21:08like we were shooters for real.
  193. 21:10You keep it. You keep all your little magazines.
  194. 21:13You know, you keep your little SD cards and magazine little clip.
  195. 21:16Right. Keep camera loaded with a little SD card.
  196. 21:19Keep battery charged.
  197. 21:21All that. Like, I love it.
  198. 21:23But we had a little pack like that was awesome.
  199. 21:26But it was great.
  200. 21:28Always have my camera on me.
  201. 21:30Always keep the little pole on me.
  202. 21:32All that.
  203. 21:32Always have my camera on me.
  204. 21:35So I go to school.
  205. 21:36I will put my tripod down with my phone on it.
  206. 21:39Walk away.
  207. 21:39Come back to my little walk in.
  208. 21:41All that.
  209. 21:43Content. All that.
  210. 21:44Y'all ain't even seen it yet.
  211. 21:46I like it though.
  212. 21:48Even speaking about content, how important is content as a newer photographer?
  213. 21:52Want to start off and kind of get their work monetized
  214. 21:58or get hired and get paid for it.
  215. 22:00What would you say to a new photographer?
  216. 22:02I say just do it.
  217. 22:04Like literally, I keep my camera on me.
  218. 22:06I'd be like, oh, that was stupid.
  219. 22:09I should have recorded that.
  220. 22:10Like, that'd be seriously a moment.
  221. 22:13And my life is a moment.
  222. 22:15Like everything is a moment.
  223. 22:17Being the reason I do everything is to capture the moment.
  224. 22:21Whether I wrote it down, created it.
  225. 22:22Put the actors in places.
  226. 22:24Cool.
  227. 22:26But sometimes real life be better.
  228. 22:28So in the moment, you know?
  229. 22:31Keep your tripod on you.
  230. 22:32Keep your ring light on you.
  231. 22:34Hey, go to Five Below and get your little vlog set.
  232. 22:37It ain't that hard.
  233. 22:39It ain't that hard.
  234. 22:40Be like, oh, that's stupid.
  235. 22:43Yes.
  236. 22:43Post it.
  237. 22:45iPhone.
  238. 22:45Even if you do the selfie, which I don't recommend
  239. 22:48because the, you know, the rear camera is the best camera.
  240. 22:52Always tell people to have it just, you know.
  241. 22:54Remember that.
  242. 22:55I have a mirror on the back of my phone.
  243. 22:58All right.
  244. 22:58We're going to skip to grab that.
  245. 23:03And bring it back.
  246. 23:04Yes, I have a mirror on the back of my phone.
  247. 23:09OK.
  248. 23:12So is that something?
  249. 23:14We got to talk about that.
  250. 23:15We got to make our own.
  251. 23:16We're going to bring it in then.
  252. 23:16We got to make our own.
  253. 23:18Can we make these?
  254. 23:25Got it from Shane for like $2.
  255. 23:26We could go buy a whole bunch of these for $2.
  256. 23:28We could sell them for $20.
  257. 23:30That ain't shit.
  258. 23:31We could do that.
  259. 23:31Y'all heard that live.
  260. 23:33So this is our deal.
  261. 23:34We made right on the spot.
  262. 23:35That ain't shit.
  263. 23:36This is a, this is a, this is a everyday though.
  264. 23:39We going on, Shane.
  265. 23:40Keep cool.
  266. 23:42We think of a lot of products, you know.
  267. 23:44And tell me, that's how my brain works, y'all.
  268. 23:47Yeah, that's how we get all the time.
  269. 23:48Being just plain easy.
  270. 23:50What you mean?
  271. 23:51That's why I was like, yeah, we got to, we got to bring
  272. 23:54something unique to the people.
  273. 23:56I know this would be like a overdue conversation.
  274. 23:59It's been a while.
  275. 24:00Like you said, you in school, you doing your thing.
  276. 24:03I'm, you know, finding my way in business
  277. 24:06and entrepreneurship.
  278. 24:08And this is overdue.
  279. 24:12Very overdue.
  280. 24:13I'm like, I appreciate you.
  281. 24:14We be busy though.
  282. 24:16I think that is crazy.
  283. 24:18Yeah.
  284. 24:19What's the biggest thing you've learned
  285. 24:20in school so far?
  286. 24:21Like how to read a ruler.
  287. 24:24How to read all y'all artists out there.
  288. 24:26Do y'all know how to read a ruler?
  289. 24:27I'm just asking.
  290. 24:28I'm just asking.
  291. 24:29I don't know.
  292. 24:30I went to art school all my life.
  293. 24:31Second grade, graduating high school,
  294. 24:33right back at it, Kent State.
  295. 24:35Love it.
  296. 24:37All my life, I ain't know I had to know
  297. 24:38how to read a ruler.
  298. 24:39You know, the little itsy bitsy dots
  299. 24:42between the inch, like the inch in the,
  300. 24:49I feel like public school was a waste of time.
  301. 24:54I feel like I didn't learn what I was supposed to learn.
  302. 24:58I said it.
  303. 24:59But what I learned in college is how to read a ruler.
  304. 25:03Why do you need to know how to read a ruler
  305. 25:05to build costumes from like literal clothes,
  306. 25:09like measurements, right?
  307. 25:11Building a set, architecture, construction.
  308. 25:17Cool.
  309. 25:18These are things I have to do
  310. 25:19as a director cinematographer now.
  311. 25:21I learned how to read a ruler
  312. 25:22and I didn't know I actually had to.
  313. 25:29How long was that process?
  314. 25:30Yo, I cried.
  315. 25:31Me and my teacher, she was like,
  316. 25:32I cried in front of my teacher.
  317. 25:35I had to.
  318. 25:35I'm like, what do you mean?
  319. 25:38What do you mean, right?
  320. 25:39I'm like, first off, I felt bad for myself.
  321. 25:44And that was an experience right there.
  322. 25:45I'm like, wait, I never learned this.
  323. 25:47Never knew.
  324. 25:48She just said, this is, this, this.
  325. 25:50No, I don't get anything you're saying.
  326. 25:53No, I'm breaking down this.
  327. 25:55What?
  328. 25:56No.
  329. 26:02Popang, right?
  330. 26:05Eighth of an inch.
  331. 26:06One little nine sixteenth of an inch.
  332. 26:09Mess up the entire project.
  333. 26:11Wow.
  334. 26:13What is a nine sixteenth?
  335. 26:15Why is the details?
  336. 26:17Now I'm back in it, looking at every inch.
  337. 26:21What they say, 2.5 centimeters are an estimated inch.
  338. 26:29Yes, 2.5 centimeters are within an inch.
  339. 26:33Estimated.
  340. 26:34Not even exactly.
  341. 26:35So now I got to work with that.
  342. 26:36Like, I never knew that.
  343. 26:38That's crazy.
  344. 26:38But that's something, that's actually that.
  345. 26:40And that will help me with everything.
  346. 26:42Y'all ain't even ready for this.
  347. 26:43Y'all ain't ready for this.
  348. 26:45It was such an experience.
  349. 26:46I'm about to get a tattoo.
  350. 26:48Yeah, I just want the little, I just want the little marks.
  351. 26:51Like, I want it absolutely exactly to the T.
  352. 26:55Nine sixteenths of an inch.
  353. 26:57Like, quit playing.
  354. 26:57Like, yes, I want the whole ruler mark,
  355. 26:59but it's going to look like stitches.
  356. 27:01Y'all, I have a scary movie tattoo arm.
  357. 27:04Okay, cool.
  358. 27:05But it's going to look like stitches on my arm.
  359. 27:08It ain't going to look like no goofy ass ruler.
  360. 27:10All right.
  361. 27:10It's going to look lit.
  362. 27:12Y'all got to see it later.
  363. 27:14Coming way later.
  364. 27:16So is it like technology to measure it?
  365. 27:18Because I know, like.
  366. 27:20Yep.
  367. 27:20And your skin going to grow a little stupid stuff like that.
  368. 27:22That's why it's going to look like stitches.
  369. 27:25So, but yes, exactly measures.
  370. 27:27I want to be able to be an artist, put my arm down.
  371. 27:30Like, I am a whole puzzle.
  372. 27:36I'm the whole piece to every, every missing program.
  373. 27:39Like all that.
  374. 27:40I fit in.
  375. 27:41Cool.
  376. 27:42Everybody love me.
  377. 27:43I love everybody.
  378. 27:45I do that.
  379. 27:45So if I put myself into, into it, right,
  380. 27:48I put myself into my arts.
  381. 27:52Schooler on me.
  382. 27:52I don't care.
  383. 27:53I learned that.
  384. 27:54Can't nobody.
  385. 27:54I'll be, I'll be sitting here like.
  386. 27:58Y'all, I am the goofiest person.
  387. 28:00But it's okay because I'm successful.
  388. 28:03But goofy is, I am very goofy.
  389. 28:05Yes, I am.
  390. 28:06But I enjoy it.
  391. 28:07I enjoy everything.
  392. 28:10What was some of your biggest, like starting your business?
  393. 28:15First business.
  394. 28:19Milk to Magnet's first business.
  395. 28:21Well, my first LLC.
  396. 28:24What do you mean?
  397. 28:25What is my first business?
  398. 28:26Like what are you asking?
  399. 28:27Yeah.
  400. 28:32My first business was cleaning my granny's house.
  401. 28:36Like literally cleaning her house.
  402. 28:40I just went over there and cleaned glasses
  403. 28:42and wiped her glasses, wiped her windows,
  404. 28:44wiped her tables, all the glass vacuum, like cleaning.
  405. 28:48Did that for a couple of other people.
  406. 28:50That was actually cool.
  407. 28:52Like something simple I could do.
  408. 28:53I'm very detail oriented.
  409. 28:56And like I said, I keep disinfecting wipes with me.
  410. 28:59So that's a different type of a different type of business.
  411. 29:06And then from there, it did get creative.
  412. 29:09So from there, my grandma bought me my first sewing machine.
  413. 29:12Not gonna say that was a business,
  414. 29:13but got creative, right?
  415. 29:16But I started making duct tape wallets and selling them.
  416. 29:21So actually made the wallets.
  417. 29:26My mama, my family be having card games.
  418. 29:29I go down there when all the grown folks playing and all that.
  419. 29:32They got money on the table.
  420. 29:34I had some to sell.
  421. 29:36Sold them little wallets
  422. 29:37so they could put their little money all in there
  423. 29:39and some little stuff.
  424. 29:40Everybody bought them off the table.
  425. 29:41They like, oh, I love your hustle.
  426. 29:43Like a natural hustle.
  427. 29:44Natural hustle.
  428. 29:45My mom was like, oh, okay.
  429. 29:47Well, to the school of arts, you go.
  430. 29:48She was like, you know,
  431. 29:49that's the place she knew I was gonna belong.
  432. 29:52What is something you would say to a new photographer
  433. 29:55that doesn't have that hustle or that ambition
  434. 29:58that fuel under them to get them to their success?
  435. 30:05What would I say to get,
  436. 30:07what would I say to motivate them?
  437. 30:08I mean, it'd be different situations, but like just.
  438. 30:12Would have had a hustler mentality
  439. 30:14because not everybody, you know, got it.
  440. 30:17Oh, just do it.
  441. 30:18Get up and do it.
  442. 30:19You wearing Nike, just do it.
  443. 30:21Just like Nike, just do it.
  444. 30:23You really just got to do it.
  445. 30:25Simple.
  446. 30:26It's not, it's easier said than done.
  447. 30:29Right.
  448. 30:29But the more you practice, the better you get.
  449. 30:33You miss every shot you take.
  450. 30:35You don't take, right?
  451. 30:36You miss every shot you don't take.
  452. 30:38True.
  453. 30:39Just do it.
  454. 30:40Literally, like, okay, that don't look right.
  455. 30:43Good.
  456. 30:44Edit it.
  457. 30:46Okay.
  458. 30:47I don't like the way this look.
  459. 30:49Edit it.
  460. 30:51Oh, my God.
  461. 30:51Some people be like,
  462. 30:53I don't like the way my face look.
  463. 30:58Love yourself.
  464. 30:59What do you mean?
  465. 31:00Love yourself.
  466. 31:01This is you.
  467. 31:02Say what you want to say.
  468. 31:03Be who you want to be.
  469. 31:09Pictures of people.
  470. 31:10They be like, whoa, I ain't feeling.
  471. 31:13What you mean?
  472. 31:13You out.
  473. 31:14You can't dress.
  474. 31:15You look good.
  475. 31:15You are okay.
  476. 31:17This is for you.
  477. 31:18I'm not about to post this.
  478. 31:20Hey, if you go back, how much how much time goes into the editing process?
  479. 31:28It's never clients don't understand.
  480. 31:30It's never done.
  481. 31:31People don't understand in general.
  482. 31:33Sometimes it takes time.
  483. 31:36It's never done.
  484. 31:38And then when you when you know, when you go watch a movie in the theater,
  485. 31:41you'll be like, no, no, no, this is from an editor's perspective.
  486. 31:44When you be watching a movie in the real thing like this, the final cut,
  487. 31:48you'll be looking like this ain't the final cut.
  488. 31:51Yeah, you have to.
  489. 31:52Do better than that.
  490. 31:54We could.
  491. 31:54Oh, I could have did or looking from an actor's point of view.
  492. 31:57You look.
  493. 31:57Oh, I could have did it.
  494. 31:59It's not all the time.
  495. 32:00It's never done.
  496. 32:01So you ask the client when I give you your product.
  497. 32:03I understand.
  498. 32:04Yes, you do want extra tweaks.
  499. 32:06It's never done.
  500. 32:10So, yes, that's why we charge so much for editing.
  501. 32:13Yeah.
  502. 32:14That's why I like to push projects up ahead because, you know,
  503. 32:17they they have in their head, you know, two weeks.
  504. 32:20But yeah, we still got to work on the video.
  505. 32:22Like we need, you know, planning time to even go over,
  506. 32:26even to make revisions, like you say, at the editing process to edit.
  507. 32:31Actually, you go there and you shoot or you get the footage
  508. 32:35and you didn't shoot it.
  509. 32:37Right.
  510. 32:37But if you shot it, you have to go back twice to rewatch it.
  511. 32:42You have to watch it over and over and over going to the detail.
  512. 32:48You look at this.
  513. 32:50Cut it out.
  514. 32:52Cut it out.
  515. 32:52That's actually what it's called.
  516. 32:54You have to split and cut in editing.
  517. 32:56Cut it out.
  518. 32:58When we were very, very first starting making film.
  519. 33:02No, literally when film was first ever made,
  520. 33:05you had to cut the physical film, take a piece of tape,
  521. 33:10tape it together, put it on the reel and slide it like a slideshow.
  522. 33:14Wow.
  523. 33:15That's what you and you had 24 frames per second.
  524. 33:19And then frame this picture, picture, picture editing process.
  525. 33:28It's a lot.
  526. 33:29And it's always been a lot.
  527. 33:30We try to upgrade it, get it easier.
  528. 33:32But it's interesting, though.
  529. 33:33Have you ever blended it to like where you
  530. 33:37film digital, but they had the film also
  531. 33:41and then tailored the time that the timeline with the film pictures.
  532. 33:48I'm going to say no, but I can edit it basically like a template and edit it.
  533. 33:54The digital.
  534. 33:56Anything film can be scanned.
  535. 33:59You know what I'm saying?
  536. 34:01OK.
  537. 34:01Film is physical.
  538. 34:03You're not about to easily do too much with that
  539. 34:06because now everything is digital.
  540. 34:08So for film, you're going to scan it like a printer,
  541. 34:11like a piece of paper, like, and then get that image into the computer.
  542. 34:17So after that, then, you know, do whatever you want to scan it.
  543. 34:22Told you it's my first coach, y'all.
  544. 34:26Still coaching.
  545. 34:27You see that?
  546. 34:29Yeah, it film photography.
  547. 34:33So actual black and white film photography.
  548. 34:36That was awesome.
  549. 34:38I did that with the Cleveland Print Room
  550. 34:41and that experience was awesome in a dark room
  551. 34:44in the pitch black dark, sometimes maybe with a red light on.
  552. 34:49But working with chemicals right to before you go in the dark room,
  553. 34:55like literally practice blindfolding.
  554. 34:57I thought that was hilarious.
  555. 34:59But once you walked in there, it ain't no turning on no lights.
  556. 35:02Yeah.
  557. 35:03You can't see when you walk in.
  558. 35:06You feel for your desk.
  559. 35:07You feel for your tools.
  560. 35:08Cool.
  561. 35:09I love that.
  562. 35:09That was actually a great experience.
  563. 35:11So it's literally a dark room.
  564. 35:13It's literally a dark room.
  565. 35:15You maybe get a little red light.
  566. 35:17Maybe the red light come from.
  567. 35:22You know, it's a chemical.
  568. 35:25No, no, it's like a reflection of the chemicals.
  569. 35:28It does help in the reflection.
  570. 35:30But I am not specifically sure on the science.
  571. 35:33It does help the reflection.
  572. 35:36I'm really thinking you might get a red light.
  573. 35:41That's about it.
  574. 35:42But otherwise, it was a dark room for the chemicals.
  575. 35:45So yeah, because you can't carry no light.
  576. 35:48Yeah.
  577. 35:51Now, that's a whole other conversation.
  578. 35:52So we're getting to that.
  579. 35:54So how do you be?
  580. 35:55How do you get real precise or how do you?
  581. 35:59Because like you say, you're dealing with chemicals.
  582. 36:00You don't want to have a chemical.
  583. 36:02Oh, you're right.
  584. 36:03Right, right.
  585. 36:04Now, like I said, that's another whole conversation.
  586. 36:07Because let me tell you, they will forever say,
  587. 36:08don't put your hands in it.
  588. 36:10I put my hands in it and my nails grew.
  589. 36:12That's all I'm telling you.
  590. 36:15Well.
  591. 36:17My nose was popping the whole program long.
  592. 36:20OK, natural nails to this day.
  593. 36:22Lovely.
  594. 36:25Photography at that point, too.
  595. 36:26Oh, is that what you're trying to see?
  596. 36:28Is that my rain nails or making pictures?
  597. 36:30Cutting pictures like you DJ.
  598. 36:32Like, you know, yes, yes, absolutely.
  599. 36:35You're going to shake your picture a little bit.
  600. 36:37Yes, you are.
  601. 36:38I put my hand in the chemicals with my picture.
  602. 36:41Move around a little bit.
  603. 36:43Pick it up.
  604. 36:43Take it out.
  605. 36:44Oh, man.
  606. 36:44If I dance with it.
  607. 36:45You know, get my hair.
  608. 36:47Hey, singing with it.
  609. 36:48Oh, see doing my thing.
  610. 36:51Shake it up a little bit.
  611. 36:53Keep them going.
  612. 36:53And it's a process.
  613. 36:54It's a very, very long process to make a picture.
  614. 36:58But y'all go to Walgreens for that.
  615. 36:59I like to do it in the dark room.
  616. 37:03OK, so we have creativity.
  617. 37:06We have science.
  618. 37:08What about spirituality?
  619. 37:09So creativity, spirituality and science.
  620. 37:13How do you balance the three within your art?
  621. 37:19Literally, like everything is art to me.
  622. 37:22True artists in my spirituality.
  623. 37:24Like I said, my mama put me in the Cleveland School of the Arts
  624. 37:27because she knew that's where I belong.
  625. 37:29And that's where I belong.
  626. 37:31That's where I got along with everybody.
  627. 37:34I think that was, you know, meant to be.
  628. 37:36I think I get a lot of coincidences in life.
  629. 37:38I think I think everything I get
  630. 37:41really is an interesting coincidence.
  631. 37:43I can think of it in my head and I can make it happen.
  632. 37:46So to my sewing, right, when I was first a kid,
  633. 37:49I never used a pattern.
  634. 37:50Nope, never did.
  635. 37:51I got to be able to think of it and make it great.
  636. 37:56Beautiful.
  637. 37:56I mean, I'm a kid.
  638. 37:57I don't know about measurements and all that extra stuff.
  639. 38:00But yes, I did make it awesome.
  640. 38:13Then creativity, spirituality and science within your art.
  641. 38:17Oh, yeah, that's literally everything I do.
  642. 38:20Like whenever I get a thought in my head,
  643. 38:22I got to make it happen.
  644. 38:23I'm going to map it out.
  645. 38:24I'm going to create a blueprint in here,
  646. 38:26do the whole pattern blueprint measurements.
  647. 38:31And I get to doing it like a behind this wall right here.
  648. 38:36It's a lot of creation.
  649. 38:38Okay, as a matter of fact,
  650. 38:41my camera is not even on a real tripod.
  651. 38:43It's on my mate, my phone, my phone tripod.
  652. 38:46I put two different pieces together.
  653. 38:48You did.
  654. 38:49So honestly, I didn't know this for a long time.
  655. 38:53Somebody else do it.
  656. 38:54That's an emergency.
  657. 38:55So don't be doing that.
  658. 38:58I don't know.
  659. 38:58That's emergencies only.
  660. 39:01But yes, I have a lot of goofy things about me
  661. 39:08that I'm very clumsy.
  662. 39:11So even with my arts, I make everything work for me, right?
  663. 39:15So I got a lot of pillows in my room.
  664. 39:18For if I fall, literally, I will.
  665. 39:21Little goofy stuff.
  666. 39:22So keep my lights on me, keep my tripod on me,
  667. 39:25whatever I feel like I'm doing in class.
  668. 39:27Sometimes I will post what I'm doing in class.
  669. 39:31I enjoy everything I do.
  670. 39:33So every day I wake up, I am an artist.
  671. 39:37I wake up and think of something creative to do.
  672. 39:41When I'm bored, I think of something creative to do.
  673. 39:44When I'm shopping, I look for something creative.
  674. 39:48You know, something fashionable, different.
  675. 39:55Burning sage every day, surely.
  676. 39:59Like a wake up routine?
  677. 40:02No, I don't even have a routine.
  678. 40:03It's get creative.
  679. 40:07All natural products, for sure.
  680. 40:10All natural everything.
  681. 40:12Y'all rarely see me with makeup.
  682. 40:14Y'all rarely see me with my hair done.
  683. 40:15And that's perfectly fine with me
  684. 40:17because I'm literally me being me every day.
  685. 40:20I'm an artist.
  686. 40:22The clothes I put on are art.
  687. 40:23The hairstyle I choose is art.
  688. 40:26Food I eat is colorful like the rainbow, you know?
  689. 40:38I think art goes with everything with me.
  690. 40:46What are some projects you're working on now?
  691. 40:51What project do you want to work on now?
  692. 40:54Because sometimes both is different.
  693. 40:58I right now am working on finally
  694. 41:00ending the school year 2025.
  695. 41:06I'm taking a wood shop building the sets type of class.
  696. 41:11So I'm building a pencil holder
  697. 41:13as a four by four piece of lumber.
  698. 41:16And I'm gonna drill some holes in it
  699. 41:18and try to make the holes big enough
  700. 41:20for my little lip gloss, pencils and little stuff.
  701. 41:24Just a little thing I'm gonna paint paint.
  702. 41:26Keep it simple.
  703. 41:28Then I am making a romantic vest.
  704. 41:32I've already finished my 19th century pair of trousers
  705. 41:36which were a 32 size male.
  706. 41:39And I am making a vest to go with it
  707. 41:42for my class costume technology.
  708. 41:47Then I have to learn projection.
  709. 41:49So actual like, you know,
  710. 41:51projecting things onto the stage during a performance.
  711. 41:55So my idea for my final project is to just do the weather.
  712. 41:58Like how would the weather look in a window of a performance?
  713. 42:02You know, if I'm getting storm and lightning,
  714. 42:04I want more dramatic effects like that.
  715. 42:07But projections are very hard to do.
  716. 42:10So we're gonna get into that.
  717. 42:14And I just wanna keep sewing.
  718. 42:15I think I'm gonna keep sewing for the most part of this year.
  719. 42:19I will keep sewing.
  720. 42:21And I want to get into more scary movies.
  721. 42:26So scary movies.
  722. 42:27Yes, that is my goal here.
  723. 42:29I really want to make a scary movie.
  724. 42:32So if I'm gonna write it
  725. 42:34or if I'm gonna do short reels.
  726. 42:39What's your favorite scary movie?
  727. 42:40Oh, that is so funny.
  728. 42:42That is hilarious.
  729. 42:43How dare you say such a thing?
  730. 42:48You don't even know what I'm doing, do you?
  731. 42:50You don't know what I'm doing, do you?
  732. 42:52It's scary.
  733. 42:52Yes.
  734. 42:53You're hilarious.
  735. 42:55How dare you ask me that?
  736. 42:56You think that's a scary movie?
  737. 42:58No, I think that's more comedy.
  738. 43:00Absolutely.
  739. 43:01Those are hilarious.
  740. 43:02All scary movies are funny to me.
  741. 43:04That's just me.
  742. 43:05Really?
  743. 43:05Yes.
  744. 43:06I can't watch them all day.
  745. 43:07Oh, I could watch them all day.
  746. 43:09All day, any day throughout the day.
  747. 43:13But my favorite scary movie of all time ever is Chucky.
  748. 43:20Everybody should know that.
  749. 43:22Chucky is a weird.
  750. 43:23I feel like everybody should know that.
  751. 43:25But honestly, I do have the Chucky doll.
  752. 43:27So I got the whole family finally.
  753. 43:32So what would be your style or like directing style
  754. 43:35with the horror movies?
  755. 43:37Oh, I love Tim Burton movies
  756. 43:39and I love his horror gothic style, right?
  757. 43:43Love that from, you know,
  758. 43:46Winona Ryder and Johnny Depp.
  759. 43:48Love, love, love that style.
  760. 43:52So definitely want to go there, right?
  761. 43:55But also loving Jordan Peele, right?
  762. 44:02Okay.
  763. 44:02Is that his name?
  764. 44:06Yes, love that.
  765. 44:08Yes, love that.
  766. 44:10Um, Stephen King and the way he writes.
  767. 44:14So horrifying.
  768. 44:17It's so detailed.
  769. 44:19You know, love that.
  770. 44:25My senior year,
  771. 44:28I had to stop being scared of scary movies, you know?
  772. 44:30And I wrote a monologue that had the whole audience
  773. 44:36rolling laughing, right?
  774. 44:38And to this day,
  775. 44:39y'all be rolling laughing when y'all see it.
  776. 44:42And I be loving it.
  777. 44:44That is the exact reaction
  778. 44:46I want you to see out of my horror films.
  779. 44:48I want you to see me being a cute little,
  780. 44:51cute little girl, but just cute, just nice
  781. 44:56in different type of way though, right?
  782. 44:59So like Beetlejuice, right?
  783. 45:01She said, I too am strange and unusual.
  784. 45:18Something different.
  785. 45:20And that would be like your niche.
  786. 45:23Like once you're done with school,
  787. 45:24you're going to dive straight into that.
  788. 45:26Okay.
  789. 45:27Yeah.
  790. 45:27I need to work on it while I'm in school.
  791. 45:30So every different project needs to add to that.
  792. 45:33I need to be doing stuff.
  793. 45:36So I have a genre analysis pro,
  794. 45:38yeah, genre analysis paper
  795. 45:40that I have to write for a film class.
  796. 45:43With that intel.
  797. 45:45Right.
  798. 45:45Who thought you had the right for a film class?
  799. 45:49Anyways, genre analysis.
  800. 45:53So basically I chose horror, right?
  801. 45:56But then we have sub genres,
  802. 45:58which are taking two different things
  803. 46:00and combining them such as horror and comedy.
  804. 46:04Then we get old scary movie pairings, right?
  805. 46:08So I chose to do horror,
  806. 46:10got more specific into Dracula, right?
  807. 46:14The analysis is to see the difference
  808. 46:18in our Dracula movies, right?
  809. 46:20So I chose three different Dracula movies.
  810. 46:27This is live, y'all.
  811. 46:32Interview right now.
  812. 46:33I'm going to call you right back.
  813. 47:02Am I supposed to hit the button or something?
  814. 47:04Huh?
  815. 47:05Do you want me to hit the button or something?
  816. 47:06Oh, you're good.
  817. 47:07It's still going.
  818. 47:07Okay, cool.
  819. 47:08All right.
  820. 47:08Back to it.
  821. 47:09Ready?
  822. 47:09What was the question?
  823. 47:15We can reset.
  824. 47:16We're good.
  825. 47:21I kind of want to shift gears to a question.
  826. 47:33No one asked you that you want someone to ask you
  827. 47:36about your work or not work art.
  828. 47:45I want to call it more art, art work, art work, art work.
  829. 47:48Put it together.
  830. 47:49Art work.
  831. 47:50Yeah, but it still be I got so many things
  832. 47:53y'all don't even know.
  833. 47:55I don't know how to even tell y'all
  834. 47:57what I don't know how to tell y'all.
  835. 47:59You know what I'm saying?
  836. 48:01Like I really get ideas in my head
  837. 48:04and I just do like if I was to say something
  838. 48:08motivational to somebody, just do it.
  839. 48:11Like I'm not even sure.
  840. 48:15See the question.
  841. 48:16What was the question?
  842. 48:23It was a good one.
  843. 48:31It was a good one.
  844. 48:36Let me get off track.
  845. 48:37That was a good one.
  846. 48:42Oh, if what is it?
  847. 48:44What is it?
  848. 48:45What is the question that I want somebody to ask me?
  849. 48:48Yeah.
  850. 48:48What's the question I want somebody to ask?
  851. 48:51I got excited.
  852. 48:52I was waiting.
  853. 48:57I was waiting so hard on the answer.
  854. 48:58I'm like, what was the question?
  855. 49:00I was I was waiting.
  856. 49:01I was I'm trying to think too because then it'd be like,
  857. 49:05okay, because I can do a million things
  858. 49:07and then it'd be like, I really be wanting people.
  859. 49:10I don't know what I want people to ask.
  860. 49:11Someone if a little kid came up to you to ask you.
  861. 49:23Yeah, I don't like people asking me for shit.
  862. 49:26What are you?
  863. 49:29May sound harsh, though.
  864. 49:31Kids give it to you.
  865. 49:32You're not going to say it like that,
  866. 49:33but they ain't got no filter neither.
  867. 49:35They don't have no filter.
  868. 49:37But yeah, no, I don't.
  869. 49:38What would you want to ask them?
  870. 49:41What do you do?
  871. 49:43But a kid, if I ask that, what is that thing over there?
  872. 49:46Yeah, I'd be like, I do a lot.
  873. 49:49Like I'm the artist of all things.
  874. 49:51Like I sew, I make things.
  875. 49:53Okay, a teenage kid.
  876. 49:56Don't you want a job?
  877. 49:58I need you to carry these bags.
  878. 50:03You want them to approach you like that?
  879. 50:04Can I have a job?
  880. 50:06Oh, I guess.
  881. 50:11And then it'd be like that.
  882. 50:12Oh my gosh.
  883. 50:13People have done that to me.
  884. 50:15Oh, don't don't get me started.
  885. 50:16People have done that.
  886. 50:20What about interns since you?
  887. 50:22I can intern because I don't have enough money to pay nobody.
  888. 50:25That's just that.
  889. 50:26I can intern all I want, but I ain't got no time.
  890. 50:30Interns to work under you.
  891. 50:31Yeah, I can have somebody intern under me.
  892. 50:33I have no problem mentoring.
  893. 50:34I have no problem tutoring.
  894. 50:36I have no problem, you know, having somebody to really help at that point.
  895. 50:41Like I got a lot of bags to bring in to set up this 360 booth.
  896. 50:46And I just need you to carry 360 before I get these bags.
  897. 50:50How much is your mentoring program?
  898. 50:53We'll get there when I'm out of school.
  899. 50:56Get there.
  900. 50:57Okay.
  901. 50:57Yeah.
  902. 50:58Focus, stay focused.
  903. 51:00Definitely got to learn a lot before I go helping everybody else.
  904. 51:03Can't help nobody until you help yourself.
  905. 51:05That's right.
  906. 51:06Self love is the biggest, you know.
  907. 51:09Yeah, I'm out here learning for the both of us.
  908. 51:12Yeah, true, true facts.
  909. 51:16You know, that's why I love being around other high level people in the industry
  910. 51:20because it's not about competitions, more about collaboration,
  911. 51:25you know, supporting each other, clapping for each other,
  912. 51:28you know, being there for each other, even even on the emotional side.
  913. 51:32Like, you good?
  914. 51:34It's been a while, you know, checking in, checking in your friends, you know.
  915. 51:38They say who check in on the strongest ones?
  916. 51:42Oh, don't get started there.
  917. 51:45Yeah, yep, yep.
  918. 51:46It's lonely at the top.
  919. 51:48Lonely at the top.
  920. 51:50That's what I said, like when we chase this and we get this success or whatever we
  921. 51:58want in life, it's like, is it ever enough?
  922. 52:02Nope.
  923. 52:03Remember Squid Game?
  924. 52:05Nope.
  925. 52:06Because you like to do it.
  926. 52:08So what about money?
  927. 52:09Like, what is it?
  928. 52:10How much money you want to know?
  929. 52:12Is it really a number or is it like?
  930. 52:14It's a million.
  931. 52:14I really want to be a billionaire.
  932. 52:16Like, that's it.
  933. 52:17I don't need, I don't got to be famous to be a million.
  934. 52:19I just want to have millions.
  935. 52:20So is 99, is it 99,000 enough?
  936. 52:27If you don't reach the million, 99,000 enough?
  937. 52:33Sure.
  938. 52:34So when is it enough?
  939. 52:35I ain't never gonna stop.
  940. 52:36Exactly.
  941. 52:36Enough is never enough.
  942. 52:38The glass is never full.
  943. 52:40It ain't half full either.
  944. 52:41It ain't never full.
  945. 52:42I ain't got enough.
  946. 52:43Let go.
  947. 52:43Keep moving.
  948. 52:45So even with art or the work we do.
  949. 52:48Ain't never done.
  950. 52:49It's never enough.
  951. 52:50Never done.
  952. 52:52What about love?
  953. 52:53Love.
  954. 52:55Relationships.
  955. 52:57Never enough.
  956. 52:58It ain't never enough.
  957. 53:01Parenting.
  958. 53:01Never enough.
  959. 53:02It ain't never enough.
  960. 53:03What our parents, we could say we,
  961. 53:04what our parents didn't do for us.
  962. 53:06And then, you know, they did a lot.
  963. 53:07I definitely.
  964. 53:08We try to make up and be in our own kids' head.
  965. 53:10I don't want kids.
  966. 53:12Then what's, what's ever enough?
  967. 53:14Exactly.
  968. 53:14Ain't nothing enough.
  969. 53:15Ain't enough food.
  970. 53:16Ain't enough water.
  971. 53:17Ain't enough outfits.
  972. 53:18Ain't enough clothes.
  973. 53:19Ain't enough knowledge.
  974. 53:20Ain't enough power.
  975. 53:21But for someone like me, that's a perfectionist.
  976. 53:24Like, how do we?
  977. 53:25Right.
  978. 53:25Now what is, what's perfect though?
  979. 53:28It is what it is.
  980. 53:30It's the eye of the beholder.
  981. 53:32I am who I am.
  982. 53:34I can't be who you want me to be.
  983. 53:36You got to accept me for who I am.
  984. 53:38Life goes on.
  985. 53:39You do what you don't.
  986. 53:43So when is the product ever finished?
  987. 53:45It ain't.
  988. 53:47Ain't never finished.
  989. 53:48It's life.
  990. 53:49It's life.
  991. 53:49It's a segment.
  992. 53:50Yeah.
  993. 53:51So when the segment is done.
  994. 53:53The frame.
  995. 53:53It's chapters.
  996. 53:54The frame.
  997. 53:54Oh, it's chapters.
  998. 53:55Going back to the film, the frame.
  999. 53:58Oh, yeah.
1000. 53:58When one thing ends, something else begins.
1001. 54:02When one life is taken, another life begins.
  1002. 54:06Don't shut it down.
1003. 54:08There are, there is always room for improvements.
1004. 54:18What are some things you're improving in now?
1005. 54:20Every day I become a better me, better than I was yesterday.
  1006. 54:25Every day I wake up, I make art.
  1007. 54:27A good girl, yeah.
1008. 54:31Though incremental progress, as long as it's forward progress
  1009. 54:37and positive progress, that's what matters.
  1010. 54:41Like that incremental growth.
  1011. 54:42Sometimes it jumps, compounds.
1012. 54:47But you got to be consistent.
1013. 54:49That's how you get the things you want
1014. 54:50and the success you want in life.
1015. 54:53Like, I'm always adding networking events now.
  1016. 54:56Yeah.
1017. 54:57Would you be wearing a suit now?
1018. 55:01Are you old enough to be wearing a suit?
  1019. 55:04At most.
1020. 55:08But, you know, getting out of my shell.
  1021. 55:12Yeah.
1022. 55:13You know, I'm usually to myself behind the scenes.
1023. 55:16You don't want to sit on the couch and think about anything.
  1024. 55:17Doing work.
1025. 55:19But, you know, relationships matter.
  1026. 55:26That's my biggest thing.
1027. 55:27You got to meet people.
1028. 55:28You got to shake hands.
1029. 55:31Let people know who you are.
1030. 55:32Let people know what you do.
1031. 55:36How can we help each other?
  1032. 55:37How can we build?
  1033. 55:38How can we grow?
  1034. 55:40What do you need?
1035. 55:41Oh, I know somebody that do that.
1036. 55:44I need someone who can write horror movies.
  1037. 55:49Oh.
  1038. 55:50Set design.
1039. 55:52Oh, I got the whole list right there.
  1040. 55:54Your cheat code.
1041. 55:57But just meeting people and just knowing, like,
1042. 56:00even what I showed you before the call about the departments.
1043. 56:07And yeah, so it's just finding new ways and being creative.
1044. 56:11Like, okay, who are the people I want to serve
1045. 56:16and have the budget that I, you know,
1046. 56:21I don't want to say demand, but, you know,
1047. 56:24your work, the value that you provide and can provide
1048. 56:27and tie a lot of services together to maximize,
  1049. 56:31you know, the results.
1050. 56:34Yeah, definitely look for your target audience.
1051. 56:36That's when you narrow it down.
1052. 56:41But just being creative for how I find these people, you know,
1053. 56:45I got denied for my first event.
1054. 56:49Like, no, you got to take you off the list.
1055. 56:53Yeah, registered for events, free event.
1056. 56:56It's for murders and acquisitions.
1057. 57:00And the minimum qualification to get in this room
  1058. 57:02was a million dollars.
  1059. 57:04And yeah, I'm not a millionaire yet.
1060. 57:07So they took me off the list.
  1061. 57:09There's like excess denied.
1062. 57:12You had to have money for a free event.
1063. 57:19You know, just think about that gut wrench punch,
  1064. 57:21like, oh, okay, I'll get you.
1065. 57:26You know, having that feeling like, man,
1066. 57:28that was like a shot, like, oh, okay.
1067. 57:31And I respect it though, because, you know,
1068. 57:34I like doing business with people that got it right now.
1069. 57:37You know, can you hand me a million dollars right now
  1070. 57:41and about it?
  1071. 57:42I get that.
  1072. 57:43I respect it.
  1073. 57:44Anyone take a room?
  1074. 57:46I get it.
1075. 57:47So when I bought a whole room, you know, okay.
1076. 57:51You got to come back stronger.
  1077. 57:53It's okay.
1078. 57:58Having that motivation that will like that.
  1079. 58:01Like I asked you the question,
1080. 58:03like, how do you give someone a hustle?
1081. 58:05Sometimes you have to find it in the pain.
  1082. 58:07Yes, also.
1083. 58:08Yes, definitely agree with you.
1084. 58:10You could find love through the pain.
  1085. 58:14Pain through love.
  1086. 58:15I feel you.
  1087. 58:16Well, not necessarily.
1088. 58:17You know, don't build no trauma bonds.
  1089. 58:19Yeah, don't build no trauma bonds, y'all.
  1090. 58:22Don't do that.
1091. 58:23But use art as therapy.
  1092. 58:26Don't use other people.
  1093. 58:28Use art.
  1094. 58:31Okay.
1095. 58:35How important is emotion in art?
  1096. 58:38Oh, very, very, very.
1097. 58:39So I'll tell you, I got my chakras tattooed down my back
1098. 58:43every color of the rainbow has a very specific meaning
1099. 58:46to each and every person.
1100. 58:48Very specific to you and how you feel about it.
  1101. 58:57Another conversation.
1102. 58:58But to me, yes, I love every color of the rainbow.
1103. 59:03You will see me wear every color of the rainbow.
1104. 59:06Like your logo, your branding.
1105. 59:09Yes, my branding is rainbows.
1106. 59:12Maybe majority black, maybe accent pink.
1107. 59:15But for the most part, there is a lot of rainbows
1108. 59:19and black is all color.
  1109. 59:23So that's why I like that.
1110. 59:26So how do you come up with Milton Magnets?
1111. 59:28I heard it in the song.
1112. 59:29With the blended rainbow thing?
1113. 59:32I always heard it in the song.
  1114. 59:33I like it.
1115. 59:34I just like the way it sounds.
  1116. 59:38Like magnets?
  1117. 59:40Connecting with people.
1118. 59:41See, you can use it as branding.
1119. 59:42It's so many ways you can say it.
1120. 59:43All right, now I'm coaching you now.
  1121. 59:44It's just hot.
  1122. 59:45It's a hot, it's hot.
  1123. 59:46You know, melting shit.
  1124. 59:50I like it.
1125. 59:51I can make a lot of things out of it.
  1126. 59:53I like the connection.
  1127. 59:54You can utilize that.
1128. 59:55We're going to play some stuff on camera.
1129. 59:59But magnets, we could break it down.
  1130. 1:00:03We connect.
1131. 1:00:04You know, I can see the whole branding campaign.
  1132. 1:00:07Look at them.
1133. 1:00:08We're going to be selling you now.
1134. 1:00:09Yeah, I was about to say you trying to sell me.
1135. 1:00:10I already got everything branded from shirts,
  1136. 1:00:13wristbands, jewelry, everything already.
1137. 1:00:16This video audience, but, you know,
1138. 1:00:19never telling off the creative mind.
1139. 1:00:21Like, oh, but yeah, they call it a copy.
  1140. 1:00:27Copy language, copyright.
1141. 1:00:32And it's the message behind your brand.
  1142. 1:00:38That's nice, though.
1143. 1:00:39And then the photogenic collection.
1144. 1:00:42Is that part of notes and magnets?
  1145. 1:00:45Is that?
  1146. 1:00:45Yes, that's right up under it.
1147. 1:00:47Really, what it is is everything else I do in a collection.
  1148. 1:00:53When I started making clothes, yes,
1149. 1:00:56the tag on the clothes will say photogenic collection.
1150. 1:01:00When I start building sets and making paintings,
1151. 1:01:04yes, I will sign my signature photogenic collection.
  1152. 1:01:08The brand, yes.
  1153. 1:01:11When I do yoga and we're stretching
1154. 1:01:16and we are at the park and the forest like outside,
1155. 1:01:24you know, creeks, ponds, lakes, all that.
1156. 1:01:28When we go outside doing yoga, yes,
1157. 1:01:31we are a part of the photogenic collection.
1158. 1:01:34To be photogenic just means that this is our shoot.
1159. 1:01:40Everything I do will have melting magnets, LLC photography.
1160. 1:01:47But what we will be doing in front of the camera
1161. 1:01:50will be for photogenic collection
1162. 1:01:53because we will be photogenic people.
1163. 1:01:56And that is always going to be my collection
1164. 1:02:00of, you know, everything else I do.
1165. 1:02:03So that will be the brand name for my other subconscious.
1166. 1:02:14Everything you, everything that you capture,
1167. 1:02:18then like everything else is.
1168. 1:02:19Yes, what I capture is melting magnets,
1169. 1:02:21but everything else I do with a photogenic collection.
  1170. 1:02:33I see.
  1171. 1:02:35So yeah, photogenic collection
1172. 1:02:36definitely is a baby from melting magnets.
1173. 1:02:43But yes, you will see both logos at times.
1174. 1:02:46But yes, my yoga, my sewing, my clothes
  1175. 1:02:50will be photogenic collection.
  1176. 1:02:55Photogenic collection.
1177. 1:02:56Love it, love it, love it.
1178. 1:03:00So it's going to be public, you know.
1179. 1:03:04Are you going to showcase
1180. 1:03:05or are you going to offer it to the public?
  1181. 1:03:07Oh, it'll be a part of my services.
  1182. 1:03:11Yes, it is a service.
1183. 1:03:13Yeah, it's a service type program from melting magnets.
1184. 1:03:26Definitely got to give it a little bit later.
1185. 1:03:33What are some things you studying right now
  1186. 1:03:37as far as like self-education, self-development?
  1187. 1:03:40Self-development, editing.
1188. 1:03:41I got to always teach myself how to edit.
1189. 1:03:43Always got to find new editing effects
  1190. 1:03:45and tips and tricks.
  1191. 1:03:47So definitely with that,
1192. 1:03:49especially going into this horror genre.
1193. 1:03:51So definitely got to get more into that.
1194. 1:03:54Teaching myself more to stay on genre.
1195. 1:03:57Like, yes, my favorite color is pink.
  1196. 1:04:00Yes, I am all rainbows.
1197. 1:04:02But now let's turn that into a horror genre.
1198. 1:04:06So how do you turn rainbows into horror?
1199. 1:04:09Oh, my goodness, that is crazy.
1200. 1:04:11So like literally the first thing I ever wrote
  1201. 1:04:14was You Can't Hide From Me,
1202. 1:04:17which was a monologue for my senior recital, 2018.
  1203. 1:04:24And I performed it at a monologue one-woman show,
  1204. 1:04:28you know, and basically I was a six-year-old kid
1205. 1:04:33who was bullied and I got my revenge on my bully.
  1206. 1:04:42Quite a monologue.
  1207. 1:04:47Yes, I had a tendency.
1208. 1:04:51So that's where we take our rainbows and cues well.
  1209. 1:05:00So even that's like blending.
  1210. 1:05:02Or a Chucky.
1211. 1:05:04Which just start with photography,
1212. 1:05:06like because it's light and dark contrast.
1213. 1:05:09Definitely got to get better on my niche.
  1214. 1:05:11I know what I like, but I haven't shown that.
1215. 1:05:14I'm definitely working more for my clients
1216. 1:05:16to give them what they want.
1217. 1:05:19But I definitely will start working on my horror genre soon.
1218. 1:05:25You know, someone told me at a conference once,
1219. 1:05:28it might have been the same conference we went to
1220. 1:05:32for Imogen like years ago.
1221. 1:05:35Yeah, but I say you went once without me.
  1222. 1:05:38I went once.
  1223. 1:05:39I went one time.
1224. 1:05:42So the first year I went, I was like, man.
1225. 1:05:45Oh, yeah, you must have went before me.
1226. 1:05:47I only went one time.
1227. 1:05:48Yeah, I was saying you only went one time.
  1228. 1:05:49I went three times.
1229. 1:05:50Okay, so I must have went that second time you went
1230. 1:05:52because you went once before and after then.
1231. 1:05:55Or you, yeah, it was before or after.
  1232. 1:05:58Yeah, I was about to say, I know I went once.
1233. 1:05:59So you went after or before,
1234. 1:06:01but I don't remember exactly and it could have been both.
1235. 1:06:04But they told me you have to work on your projects,
  1236. 1:06:11do what you love.
1237. 1:06:13Otherwise, your portfolio, your work you have to show
1238. 1:06:17is basically your clients control what they want.
  1239. 1:06:20Right.
1240. 1:06:21What you want to show and the work that you want to do.
  1241. 1:06:25Definitely.
1242. 1:06:26You know, so I always had it back in my mind
1243. 1:06:29and the people that I work with,
1244. 1:06:30like is this getting to the goal?
  1245. 1:06:33I mean, I had a conversation, you know,
1246. 1:06:36the other day about that.
1247. 1:06:38So encouraging and being there for each other
1248. 1:06:46is always mind and mental
1249. 1:06:47because sometimes we do need that reminder.
1250. 1:06:50And, you know, we have off days
1251. 1:06:52and we just need that nudge like, dang.
  1252. 1:06:56Like, oh, remember you did X, Y, and Z?
1253. 1:06:58Like, you know, you never know how
  1254. 1:07:00it could change a person's day.
1255. 1:07:02And from that day, I created this that it sparked up
1256. 1:07:07like the support is everything.
1257. 1:07:14Peace and love is everything.
1258. 1:07:18That's what I portray with my art, even with
1259. 1:07:22from poems, books, music, photography,
1260. 1:07:27peaceful pictures that are out of this world.
1261. 1:07:35I do, I just want to have that vibrate
  1262. 1:07:39the atmosphere, the universe,
  1263. 1:07:43this positive energy, peace,
1264. 1:07:47elevation, constant elevation, constant progression,
  1265. 1:07:52for elevation, always aberration.
1266. 1:08:07That's how you get farther in where you want to be
1267. 1:08:11in your career and life as a village,
  1268. 1:08:14as a family, as friends,
1269. 1:08:18no matter what relationship or business,
1270. 1:08:26and also take time for yourself.
  1271. 1:08:30Love yourself, meditate, pray,
1272. 1:08:35do what you got to do.
1273. 1:08:38Wake up, take that time for you.
  1274. 1:08:40See, I'm a poor dame, you know.
1275. 1:08:44Really take that time, that silent time,
  1276. 1:08:49journal right out, make a plan,
1277. 1:08:53how you want your day to be,
1278. 1:08:54where's your goal for the day.
  1279. 1:08:56Yeah, you're telling me that?
  1280. 1:08:59Journal.
1281. 1:09:00I got three full journals, pages,
  1282. 1:09:03back to back since I was 16.
1283. 1:09:06I map out my day every day.
1284. 1:09:08I know exactly what I got to do until
1285. 1:09:10somebody call me what they do.
  1286. 1:09:12I always keep a journal, yeah,
  1287. 1:09:14wherever I go.
1288. 1:09:20But meditate, get a sage, and all that.
  1289. 1:09:29So it's been a good conversation.
  1290. 1:09:33Definitely appreciated.
1291. 1:09:35Definitely gave me a lot more to think on.
1292. 1:09:37Yeah, like this is, this is refreshing
  1293. 1:09:40because like, you know,
1294. 1:09:42I do work with a lot of entrepreneurs,
1295. 1:09:44but like, I know you like the arts in there, artists.
