  1. 0:01Welcome, welcome, welcome to alienize photos industry talk.
  2. 0:08I have a power couple here.
  3. 0:10Ms. Patterson or Mr. Patterson and Ms. Erica.
  4. 0:16First off, how y'all doing today?
  5. 0:19Doing good.
  6. 0:19Good, no complaints over you.
  7. 0:22How about you?
  8. 0:23I am great, it's amazing.
  9. 0:25And you know, we just had a good meeting,
  10. 0:27went over some systems and I appreciate that.
  11. 0:30And just for the audience, the listeners,
  12. 0:34can we talk a little about what y'all do?
  13. 0:37Yeah, so my name is Patterson
  14. 0:40and I am the co-founder of Braid Connector,
  15. 0:44which is a company that helps hair stylists,
  16. 0:48hair braiders to get found, to get more bookings.
  17. 0:52So right now our goal is to give this skill
  18. 0:57to many braiders, many other small business
  19. 1:01so they can actually use AI and utilize AI to the max
  20. 1:07to make the business grow.
  21. 1:11Yeah.
  22. 1:12That's amazing.
  23. 1:13So how did y'all start this?
  24. 1:15Like what was the initial idea for it?
  25. 1:19Good, good.
  26. 1:22So everything started back in 2015.
  27. 1:27I'm originally from Burkina Faso.
  28. 1:30I immigrated here in 2015.
  29. 1:33I came here for school, F1 visa.
  30. 1:36And then from that, I got interest into digital marketing
  31. 1:40into building system for small businesses.
  32. 1:43So I started by going to conferences,
  33. 1:48meet other people that is in this type of space.
  34. 1:51And then little by little,
  35. 1:52I made my way to where I am right now.
  36. 1:56Wow.
  37. 1:57So my question would be, why salons?
  38. 2:04That's a good question.
  39. 2:07My first client ever that I got was a salons owner.
  40. 2:11So how I got that salon was from Facebook.
  41. 2:18When I've been in rooms where people was talking a lot
  42. 2:21about digital marketing,
  43. 2:22about how to help people be found online.
  44. 2:26So the closest people around me was salons owner
  45. 2:29because I'm African.
  46. 2:31So there was a lot of ladies that do hair.
  47. 2:34So that was the easiest niche to get started.
  48. 2:37And then I also had my cousin that was doing hair.
  49. 2:40So I literally help her to grow her own business.
  50. 2:44Literally she was braiding in her kitchen.
  51. 2:47So I helped her move from the kitchen
  52. 2:49to open a new salon with more than 14 chairs and plus.
  53. 2:55That's how I started helping salons owner.
  54. 2:58So yeah, that's part of my initial question.
  55. 3:02Why salons?
  56. 3:03Because on the opposite end, we have barber shops.
  57. 3:06So why salons over barber shops?
  58. 3:09Yeah.
  59. 3:11First, because I feel like
  60. 3:14when it comes to hair treatment for ladies,
  61. 3:18they pay more than the barber shop.
  62. 3:20Is that true Erika?
  63. 3:21Yes, to be a woman is expensive.
  64. 3:25It is, it's more expensive than a man.
  65. 3:27Just in comparison, he'll go to the barber
  66. 3:29and get a haircut and it's like $40.
  67. 3:33That's two braids in my head.
  68. 3:36So I go to the salon, I get my hair done
  69. 3:38and it's like $300.
  70. 3:40And then on top of that, women get their nails done,
  71. 3:43women get their eyebrows done, women wear makeup.
  72. 3:46It's all these other things that women do.
  73. 3:48So like the beauty industry is a thing
  74. 3:51that is gonna never go away, especially for women
  75. 3:54because most women care about how they look
  76. 3:58and getting your hair done is a part of that.
  77. 4:00And women like to feel good.
  78. 4:01And the first thing they do is get their hair done
  79. 4:04because you just wanna feel good,
  80. 4:06you wanna look good.
  81. 4:08And yeah, it's expensive to be a woman.
  82. 4:11It's expensive to be a woman.
  83. 4:12That might be the title, it's expensive to be a woman.
  84. 4:15And also I felt like my service would provide
  85. 4:20more benefit to the women because let's be real,
  86. 4:25if I help a barbershop to get more booking,
  87. 4:28at the end of the month,
  88. 4:29you will still struggle to pay for the services
  89. 4:33because the service that you offer to other people
  90. 4:36might be a little bit low because they need
  91. 4:40to actually cut more hair to make more money.
  92. 4:43So that's why I'd rather work with ladies
  93. 4:49that do hair, lup t-shirts, and yeah.
  94. 4:54Wow, and you bring up a good point about the,
  95. 4:58you need to cut more hair as a barber
  96. 5:01to pay for the services.
  97. 5:04And my thing is, I kinda said to myself
  98. 5:09a few months ago, let me make a big goal.
  99. 5:12I wanna make my first million.
  100. 5:14And I know we was going over funnels and systems earlier
  101. 5:17and I was like, I need to niche down.
  102. 5:19But I also thought about it,
  103. 5:21will photography make me my first million?
  104. 5:24So it was like something that I was reflecting on
  105. 5:26and questioning myself like, hmm.
  106. 5:29Cause yeah, I could make a million through photography
  107. 5:31but I'd be burnt out and tired.
  108. 5:33So it was like, I don't wanna do that.
  109. 5:35So it was kinda like I wanna be peaceful as I do it.
  110. 5:38So I'm kinda looking more in the educational space
  111. 5:41and building out courses, you know, so.
  112. 5:44And teaching other people what you do.
  113. 5:46Exactly.
  114. 5:47So something I'm stumbling upon
  115. 5:50and that's why I didn't niche down
  116. 5:52or build out the systems like I'm supposed to
  117. 5:54cause it's like, hmm, I could, hmm.
  118. 5:57It's my business but will it make me my first million?
  119. 6:03I believe yes, it's a great industry
  120. 6:07because right now we're recording, so.
  121. 6:10That's true.
  122. 6:10Something that will not go away.
  123. 6:13People will still need to be friendable.
  124. 6:14People will still need to tell their story.
  125. 6:17And then what you do,
  126. 6:19it's something that is really needed.
  127. 6:20You just gotta keep going up.
  128. 6:23You're already there, man.
  129. 6:25You're already there.
  130. 6:25Oh yeah, I like it.
  131. 6:26Thank you, thank you.
  132. 6:27People love photos because photos are memories.
  133. 6:30So you gotta see it as that.
  134. 6:32Like who wouldn't have a photographer at their wedding?
  135. 6:36Who's gonna take the pictures?
  136. 6:37Somebody with the iPhone.
  137. 6:38You're gonna want them to have those photos
  138. 6:41for the rest of your life.
  139. 6:43So that's how I look at it, photos are memories.
  140. 6:45So I'm always like big on my take a picture,
  141. 6:48take a picture.
  142. 6:49Even if we're doing the smallest things,
  143. 6:50I always take pictures because that's nice.
  144. 6:52At one point in your life,
  145. 6:54that might be all you have
  146. 6:55of who you're taking a picture of too, so.
  147. 6:58So when was y'all first picture?
  148. 7:01Our first date.
  149. 7:03Y'all first date?
  150. 7:04Yeah, we took a picture the second day we met.
  151. 7:06Like a selfie?
  152. 7:08Yep, we still have that picture, so I remember 2015.
  153. 7:13Yeah, yeah, we met through a mutual friend at the time.
  154. 7:18Crazy because I was just like minding my business,
  155. 7:21going home, I was not looking for nothing.
  156. 7:24And my friend texted me like,
  157. 7:26hey, you wanna meet this guy?
  158. 7:27She was dating one of his friends.
  159. 7:29And I was like, sure.
  160. 7:30And it happened to be right up the block
  161. 7:32from my mom's house.
  162. 7:33It was crazy because I was like what?
  163. 7:35But I was moving out.
  164. 7:36So I wasn't really paying attention all around.
  165. 7:39And literally I was like,
  166. 7:40oh yeah, I'm coming, it's right up the block.
  167. 7:42I just have to walk there.
  168. 7:43I'm from Harlem, so New York City up the block
  169. 7:45is literally up the block.
  170. 7:48So yeah, we met and then we literally been together
  171. 7:52ever since the first day we met.
  172. 7:55So yeah, and our second date was when we took a selfie.
  173. 7:57We went to go eat and we took a picture.
  174. 8:00That's nice, wow.
  175. 8:02So that sounds like a word of my referral.
  176. 8:08So even going back to the salons,
  177. 8:11like a lot of salons do word of mouth and referrals.
  178. 8:14So how did you get them to find a value
  179. 8:17in systems and like funnels?
  180. 8:21Because let me start something.
  181. 8:24Because a lot of businesses,
  182. 8:26they only focusing on growing
  183. 8:28without having the good foundation
  184. 8:30and having a business is basically the foundation of your,
  185. 8:34like having a system
  186. 8:36is basically the foundation of your business.
  187. 8:39Let's say if you build a house, right?
  188. 8:42And then there is a leak on the roof,
  189. 8:44but you now worrying about fixing the leak on the roof
  190. 8:47and then you're trying to like change the paint inside.
  191. 8:51You're trying to like maybe change the windows
  192. 8:53and all that.
  193. 8:54It doesn't really matter
  194. 8:55because all these things will still get wet
  195. 8:57when it rains, right?
  196. 8:58So a lot of stylists, a lot of salons owner
  197. 9:01don't really take the time to really
  198. 9:05like do an assessment of their business.
  199. 9:07The only thing that getting more clients
  200. 9:10will make the business grow.
  201. 9:11And then they're not really taking care
  202. 9:13of like the foundation.
  203. 9:14They need a proper way of contacting back those leads
  204. 9:18when like let's say somebody working in your business,
  205. 9:22like in your air salon.
  206. 9:25You want to have this person phone number
  207. 9:28so you can contact that person later.
  208. 9:31Some of them do it manually.
  209. 9:33That's why sometimes they end up burned out
  210. 9:37because they have to like do everything manually.
  211. 9:40They have to remind for the next appointment manually.
  212. 9:45So a system is really needed for them.
  213. 9:48So that's how we align our service.
  214. 9:51So when people are finding them online
  215. 9:54or they're just walking into their shop,
  216. 9:56they can actually get those clients' data
  217. 9:59so they can contact them back again and again.
  218. 10:03Wow.
  219. 10:04So what is the biggest mistake
  220. 10:06most salon owners make with marketing?
  221. 10:10With marketing?
  222. 10:14I would say the bigger mistake that most salons make
  223. 10:18is to do not nurture the client.
  224. 10:21The only thing that this client came right now,
  225. 10:25they did their hair,
  226. 10:26they do not contact them back later.
  227. 10:29They do not send them like a text message
  228. 10:32two, three months later reminding them
  229. 10:35that they can come to do their hair service.
  230. 10:38Like let's say, for example, like Amazon,
  231. 10:42how many times do you receive text messages
  232. 10:44in your phone from Amazon or from Target?
  233. 10:47You know, right, right.
  234. 10:48Before those tools was expensive for small businesses
  235. 10:52but nowadays with AI, everything is accessible.
  236. 10:55So it's really not costly to have this type of system
  237. 11:00for your business.
  238. 11:02So that's one of the biggest mistakes that they do.
  239. 11:05They do not really having,
  240. 11:07they do not have like a proper system
  241. 11:09to like nurture those clients
  242. 11:11so they can become like lawyer clients
  243. 11:14and stay with them forever.
  244. 11:16I wanna add to that
  245. 11:17because I went to get my hair done by someone.
  246. 11:20I usually do my own hair.
  247. 11:22So by this time I went to get my hair done
  248. 11:23and I was like, let me see if I could like,
  249. 11:25talk to her and tell her what I do and everything.
  250. 11:28And she was just didn't wanna talk.
  251. 11:31And I could get back
  252. 11:32cause not everybody's having a good day.
  253. 11:34But like she didn't ask where I found her.
  254. 11:37She didn't ask like,
  255. 11:39if she could follow me on Instagram
  256. 11:41or anything like that,
  257. 11:42just to wait for her to contact me back.
  258. 11:44So I'm like, you just don't care about your business
  259. 11:48cause she did a great job and I would go back.
  260. 11:50But just like customer service plays a huge role
  261. 11:53in it as well.
  262. 11:54Like, how are you with your clients?
  263. 11:56I get everyone has a bad day.
  264. 11:57Everyone doesn't wanna talk all the time
  265. 11:59but at least like small talk, acknowledging
  266. 12:02like them coming to see you
  267. 12:04like just asking certain questions.
  268. 12:06Like, how did you find me?
  269. 12:07Do you mind if I have your number
  270. 12:09or a way to contact you back in the future?
  271. 12:12Leaving me a five-star review on Google.
  272. 12:14Like any of those things matter
  273. 12:16because it shows that you care about your business.
  274. 12:18If somebody doesn't do that,
  275. 12:19it's like you don't even,
  276. 12:21you're just doing hair to do hair, I guess.
  277. 12:23You're just making money from it.
  278. 12:24It could be that too.
  279. 12:27But as me personally, I would have like,
  280. 12:29you know, I would have told you where I found you
  281. 12:31cause that's good for you to know.
  282. 12:32Like, where did you, how did somebody just find you?
  283. 12:34I don't, you don't know me.
  284. 12:36I don't know you.
  285. 12:36That's like the reverse question.
  286. 12:38You should ask the customer coming in
  287. 12:39is how did you find me?
  288. 12:41And it did the ads.
  289. 12:42It could be looking them up on Instagram.
  290. 12:43It could be a Google search.
  291. 12:45There's so many different ways.
  292. 12:46But as a business owner, salon owner,
  293. 12:49that is like, should be your first question.
  294. 12:50Just so you know the data in your head, you know?
  295. 12:55And this is wild.
  296. 12:57And you said the nurture process
  297. 12:58and you would think that it would be different
  298. 13:01because females are nurturers, you know, naturally.
  299. 13:05So that's, that's critical.
  300. 13:06And like you said, the money's in the data.
  301. 13:09Like you said, yeah.
  302. 13:12So have you ever worked with anybody
  303. 13:14outside the salon industry or tried a different industry?
  304. 13:19Yes, right now we are working with dentists.
  305. 13:22We do have some couple of accounts of dentists
  306. 13:26that we are serving.
  307. 13:27And it was our first try
  308. 13:30trying this type of customer avatar.
  309. 13:34So far it's doing great.
  310. 13:35We're able to deliver them the good results
  311. 13:38that they want.
  312. 13:41We did, we did a Facebook, I mean,
  313. 13:43the online presence audit.
  314. 13:45Then we told them how we can help them,
  315. 13:49which means by creating their online social media,
  316. 13:52make them more content on Instagram and also Facebook
  317. 13:57and also running ads for them.
  318. 13:59So those clients, those doctors
  319. 14:01are really happy at the moment.
  320. 14:02So I'm still holding on that.
  321. 14:06I want to see how it is,
  322. 14:11like how it rolls out for the next two, three months.
  323. 14:13And from that, I will see, okay,
  324. 14:16if I can take more of them
  325. 14:18or if I will still stick with the salons owner.
  326. 14:22Wow.
  327. 14:23And who do you think market their sales better?
  328. 14:25Which industry?
  329. 14:27Say that again?
  330. 14:28Which industry do you think market themselves better?
  331. 14:30Oh, definitely the dentists.
  332. 14:32They got big money, really.
  333. 14:33And then they don't even bother you.
  334. 14:34They just pay you and they tell you,
  335. 14:36hey, do the work.
  336. 14:38And let's make a meeting.
  337. 14:39You can show me the work.
  338. 14:40Cause they're busy.
  339. 14:41They're dentists.
  340. 14:42They're doctors.
  341. 14:42So they have clients and they have high paying clients
  342. 14:46because fixing your teeth costs money.
  343. 14:49So yeah, well, we working with them was just like.
  344. 14:52Working with them is much easier.
  345. 14:54And then, I mean, they're strict, I will say.
  346. 14:58They know exactly what they want.
  347. 15:00So if you're also able to deliver those results,
  348. 15:03everything will run out smooth.
  349. 15:05So I like the little experience that I had
  350. 15:08working with dentists was really good.
  351. 15:11Cause I mean, I see a lot of, you know,
  352. 15:15here are photos, here are videos.
  353. 15:18So I'm just curious.
  354. 15:19That's very interesting.
  355. 15:21And you said ads.
  356. 15:23Do you currently run ads for your business?
  357. 15:26Yes, we do run ads for our business
  358. 15:28as we recommend our clients also run ads
  359. 15:31because this is one of the fastest way to be found.
  360. 15:35Like literally, I run my ad,
  361. 15:36I see something that you like,
  362. 15:38you click on it, then we meet.
  363. 15:39And I also tell you how I can help you grow your business
  364. 15:43or if I cannot help you, I also tell you,
  365. 15:46hey, right now I cannot help you,
  366. 15:47but here is some free resources.
  367. 15:50Go read it.
  368. 15:52And then, yeah, if you read it,
  369. 15:55you can come back and then we can help you.
  370. 15:57Because we met actually a lot of people.
  371. 15:59There is some people that are like already there
  372. 16:02that we can help.
  373. 16:04And there is also people that contact us
  374. 16:06that we cannot really help
  375. 16:09because they're not at the level
  376. 16:10where we can really serve them.
  377. 16:13So we do not want to take nobody's phone
  378. 16:16and then not being able to deliver the results.
  379. 16:21And then it all comes to your personality
  380. 16:24because before we even start to work together,
  381. 16:27we do go to an assessment call.
  382. 16:31I kind of like to work with people that I like.
  383. 16:35So during that call, I really assess everything.
  384. 16:38If you're cool in a thing that we can help you,
  385. 16:41definitely we're taking you on.
  386. 16:43But if I think that you're going to be difficult
  387. 16:47or you expecting something that we cannot do
  388. 16:50or you think that I will come and do all the work
  389. 16:53for your business,
  390. 16:54this is something that probably not going
  391. 16:56to be a good fit.
  392. 16:58So we also try to now work with those type of people
  393. 17:03that expect magic.
  394. 17:05Wow.
  395. 17:08And I'm gonna shift gears a little bit.
  396. 17:09I know I respect your time.
  397. 17:11Y'all can get the babies.
  398. 17:14Every power couple, there's roles, there's strengths,
  399. 17:17there's weaknesses.
  400. 17:19So how would you describe
  401. 17:21y'all strengths, weaknesses, dynamics?
  402. 17:25Well, we have noticed that I'm more of a planner person.
  403. 17:30I was a teacher before we started
  404. 17:32with Cisnes for eight years.
  405. 17:33And as a teacher, you always have lesson plans.
  406. 17:36You always have your things mapped up.
  407. 17:37You always know what you're going to do
  408. 17:39when you walk us to the classroom.
  409. 17:40So, and just in my life, I just like planning things.
  410. 17:43Like if we're going somewhere,
  411. 17:43we're going on vacation, we're doing this.
  412. 17:45I like to plan the week, the weekend,
  413. 17:47the this, the that is just who I am.
  414. 17:49And he's more of like a doer.
  415. 17:51Like somebody calls him,
  416. 17:52he just got to do what you have to do at that moment.
  417. 17:55And it kind of stresses me a little bit,
  418. 17:57but we noticed that whenever we sit down,
  419. 18:01usually we do it Sunday nights,
  420. 18:02we'll talk about what we have to do for the week.
  421. 18:04And we write those things down,
  422. 18:06then that's how we're able to execute it
  423. 18:08is because we sit down, we talk,
  424. 18:11and we've come up with that.
  425. 18:12And that has helped us like move along with our business.
  426. 18:15We're like, he's just fast moving.
  427. 18:18Like something comes up, he's like,
  428. 18:20all right, I got to do, I'm gonna take this call.
  429. 18:22Like yesterday, it was Sunday,
  430. 18:23he was handling business.
  431. 18:26Like I'm running like, you know, like, and I get it.
  432. 18:28I get it.
  433. 18:29In some instances, it's like, why wait till Monday?
  434. 18:31Why wait till the next day where you can get it done today?
  435. 18:34And he's big on like, why wait?
  436. 18:36Why wait?
  437. 18:37And I'm like, I could do that.
  438. 18:39I could, if it's not in the plan,
  439. 18:41like how can it be done the next day?
  440. 18:42But I like that he does that
  441. 18:44because it takes it out of the way.
  442. 18:47So if it's like a quick call,
  443. 18:48he has to do with a client and it's on a Sunday,
  444. 18:50he just does it because it doesn't matter.
  445. 18:52Tomorrow's Monday.
  446. 18:54Yeah, I kind of like to push back early in my meetings.
  447. 18:57Like let's say if I set up a meeting with you
  448. 19:00on Monday at 5 p.m.,
  449. 19:02if by like, by like 1 p.m.,
  450. 19:05I feel like I have free time,
  451. 19:06I try to push the meeting up.
  452. 19:08If then you're not available,
  453. 19:09then I meet you at 5 p.m. is okay.
  454. 19:11But I feel like this is something
  455. 19:14that I've been doing a lot
  456. 19:15and it's really helping me to free my time.
  457. 19:18Because when you have a meeting with someone,
  458. 19:21with someone, you're thinking about that.
  459. 19:23So your head is not free.
  460. 19:25And then you already cannot do a lot.
  461. 19:28Like you cannot start a task
  462. 19:30because you know that you're going to be busy soon.
  463. 19:32So I'd rather like bring that task now,
  464. 19:35get that task over right now
  465. 19:37and then have my free time.
  466. 19:39The free time. Free time keys
  467. 19:41and learn something else or watch a podcast
  468. 19:45or something like that.
  469. 19:46And that's literally what he did yesterday.
  470. 19:48He did your meetings in the morning
  471. 19:50and then we went to the event
  472. 19:51and then he just found a work.
  473. 19:53So I get it.
  474. 19:54It makes some sense.
  475. 19:56And I wanted to add a really thank you
  476. 20:00to Erica and my wife
  477. 20:01because she's a really great person.
  478. 20:04Because before she joined the company,
  479. 20:07like it was like, I wouldn't say cows,
  480. 20:11but he was like cows.
  481. 20:13A cows? What's that?
  482. 20:15Cows.
  483. 20:16C-H-H-H-H.
  484. 20:17Excuse my accent.
  485. 20:19C-A-C-H-A-O-S.
  486. 20:24Oh chaos.
  487. 20:26Chaos.
  488. 20:27So yes.
  489. 20:30French is your first language.
  490. 20:31Yeah, French is my first language.
  491. 20:33It's okay.
  492. 20:35So the company was like,
  493. 20:37hoppin' down, hoppin' down,
  494. 20:38but since she came then, listen,
  495. 20:40it's going up and up and up.
  496. 20:42So I really believe that she really was a big help.
  497. 20:47She really helped when it comes to organization.
  498. 20:51As she said, she was really good at it.
  499. 20:53She organized our own wedding.
  500. 20:55Even yesterday, she was a part
  501. 20:57of like the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.
  502. 20:59And then she did help them with the event
  503. 21:02because we just ran a two days event.
  504. 21:05So we did help with the marketing over there.
  505. 21:08We helped run ads in the local community.
  506. 21:10We also set up the funnels
  507. 21:12so people can actually register to come to the event.
  508. 21:15And then we got over like, how many people?
  509. 21:17Over 2,000 people here.
  510. 21:18But I'd be more than that
  511. 21:20because they ran out of wristbands.
  512. 21:22So I'm like, I'm so proud of us for that
  513. 21:27because they were kind of nervous
  514. 21:29because it's a small community too.
  515. 21:31So they were kind of nervous about the event,
  516. 21:33but I'm like, it's going to be good
  517. 21:34because I am on their social media.
  518. 21:36So I post on their Facebook, Instagram.
  519. 21:38We ran their ads.
  520. 21:39We make their flyers.
  521. 21:41We send emails for them.
  522. 21:42We do all of that.
  523. 21:44And I'm like, it's going to be good.
  524. 21:45People were interacting.
  525. 21:47And then when we were at the event,
  526. 21:48we were going live.
  527. 21:50So he was putting me on the spot
  528. 21:51and they could be talking to all the vendors
  529. 21:53and the people.
  530. 21:55But it was a really great event.
  531. 21:57It turned out amazing.
  532. 21:58Everyone had fun.
  533. 21:59The kids had fun.
  534. 22:00Everyone was safe, happy.
  535. 22:02Ended with a fireworks show.
  536. 22:04So it was really nice.
  537. 22:05And I'm so happy to be a part of that.
  538. 22:07And they had a parade in the beginning.
  539. 22:08So I'm happy to have been a part of that planning process
  540. 22:11because it was the planner in me that had fun doing that.
  541. 22:15And it was something that is a part of the community
  542. 22:18that we live in and that we're a part of.
  543. 22:20And that means a lot to me too,
  544. 22:22like being a part of a community
  545. 22:23and giving back and helping in ways that I can.
  546. 22:28So yeah, it was great.
  547. 22:30Amazing.
  548. 22:31That's inspiring.
  549. 22:32And as y'all speak about free time,
  550. 22:36and it seems like y'all building towards
  551. 22:38living life on your own terms.
  552. 22:40So what it would ultimately look like
  553. 22:42when y'all can live life on your own terms.
  554. 22:45Y'all build off the business more
  555. 22:47and can relax not to be in it so much.
  556. 22:50What does it look like for you all?
  557. 22:53I mean, we kind of do that now
  558. 22:55in the way a little bit
  559. 22:56where we kind of make our own schedule.
  560. 23:00We work when the kids are in school
  561. 23:03and we plan our days, we plan our weekends
  562. 23:06where we can have that time with our kids.
  563. 23:09And like Saturday or Sunday, we might go on a hike,
  564. 23:12take them to the park.
  565. 23:13Like we kind of do that.
  566. 23:14And then I like that because,
  567. 23:18like say for instance, to volunteer in my kid's school.
  568. 23:20I couldn't do that if I had a nine to five
  569. 23:22because when they're in school,
  570. 23:23I would be at a nine to five working
  571. 23:25where when you work for your own self,
  572. 23:27I'm like, I can go volunteer for an hour
  573. 23:29at her school during the book fair
  574. 23:31because I want to be a part of that.
  575. 23:33And if I worked at a nine to five,
  576. 23:35I wouldn't be able to do that
  577. 23:36because I'd be clocking in somewhere.
  578. 23:39And yeah, so I think that
  579. 23:43that sense of freedom of us planning our own schedule
  580. 23:47and our own time,
  581. 23:48I like that the best about entrepreneurship.
  582. 23:52And yeah.
  583. 23:53Yeah, me myself, I've never been a nine to five person.
  584. 23:56I quit this job really quick.
  585. 23:59So, because I felt like
  586. 24:02going to a place and doing the same thing
  587. 24:05over and over, I'm not this type of person.
  588. 24:07It might be okay for someone else,
  589. 24:09but I'm not this type of person.
  590. 24:11I'm like, okay, what's next?
  591. 24:13And then when I did work some nine to five,
  592. 24:16which I didn't really last long
  593. 24:19because I believe I'm a creative person.
  594. 24:21I like to help you and see you succeed.
  595. 24:25And then I see that, okay,
  596. 24:27if I can help you and see you succeed,
  597. 24:30why would you quit on me?
  598. 24:32You will always want to work with me
  599. 24:33because I helped you.
  600. 24:36And I believe that
  601. 24:38I rather
  602. 24:401% of a hundred people
  603. 24:43than 100% of one person.
  604. 24:47Do you understand what I mean by that?
  605. 24:48One more time, one more time.
  606. 24:50I rather 1% of a hundred people
  607. 24:54than 100% of myself.
  608. 24:57That means I rather help other people
  609. 24:59and get them succeed, get them the success they want
  610. 25:02because I know that my fulfillment will come through it.
  611. 25:06If they succeed, I will also make money.
  612. 25:08So this is how I see it.
  613. 25:10And then working in a nine to five,
  614. 25:11definitely you able to do your task,
  615. 25:14but at the end of the week
  616. 25:15or at the end of the month, you're just a lumber.
  617. 25:18They don't really,
  618. 25:20they don't really care that much about you.
  619. 25:23And then I've been in companies where literally
  620. 25:26this guy was working there for like 12 years.
  621. 25:29He did a small mistake.
  622. 25:30They fired him just right from corporate,
  623. 25:33not even knowing the real story and things like that.
  624. 25:37So me going through all these things,
  625. 25:39I'm like, is that really the good path to go in?
  626. 25:45And yeah, so.
  627. 25:47And that's also just what they teach you in America
  628. 25:49is you're supposed to have a nine to five job
  629. 25:51and you work hard and you get retirement
  630. 25:54and you work for 30 years.
  631. 25:56And it's just, it's what our parents did as well.
  632. 26:00So it's what I saw growing up.
  633. 26:02So you think that that is what you're supposed to do.
  634. 26:04Go to college, get a good job, do all those things.
  635. 26:07And I did all those things.
  636. 26:08And when I was at my job, I was there for eight years.
  637. 26:11I was just like, it was just tiring and exhausting.
  638. 26:15And after a while I was like, this can't be life.
  639. 26:19Like, this can't be our life forever
  640. 26:22where we're just exhausted
  641. 26:23that we can't even do anything together
  642. 26:25or we can't do anything with our kids on the weekend
  643. 26:27because we're tired working for someone else.
  644. 26:30And I knew when I was praying to win my second kid
  645. 26:33that I can't go back to this
  646. 26:36because I'm tired and I don't even have a second kid.
  647. 26:38So wait till the second kid come.
  648. 26:40And since I was a teacher,
  649. 26:42I know how much energy goes
  650. 26:45into teaching other people's children.
  651. 26:48And I love children.
  652. 26:50That's always, it's still a passion of mine
  653. 26:52of loving children and being your own kids.
  654. 26:54But I wanted to give that energy to my own kids.
  655. 26:56And I couldn't have this energy
  656. 26:58for other people's kids and then come home
  657. 27:00and do the same thing for my kids.
  658. 27:02Like I was just too drained.
  659. 27:04So these are my children that are gonna be my kids
  660. 27:07for the rest of their life and my life.
  661. 27:09And I wanted to put my energy towards them.
  662. 27:12So now it's like,
  663. 27:13we're doing what we have to do during the day.
  664. 27:15And then when they come home,
  665. 27:16it's like, boom, they have our attention.
  666. 27:18We can play with you.
  667. 27:19We could do this.
  668. 27:20We could do homework.
  669. 27:20We could go to the park if we want to.
  670. 27:22We can do whatever because we're not drained from a job.
  671. 27:25I'm not drained from teaching all day.
  672. 27:27Yeah, don't get me wrong.
  673. 27:29We're still working.
  674. 27:30We still have some tasks to do,
  675. 27:32but it's just on our time.
  676. 27:34It's just that we can organize our days better.
  677. 27:38And then we know that nobody puts a value on our time.
  678. 27:43We can actually create our own money.
  679. 27:45And then literally what I do
  680. 27:48is actually what my kids see me doing.
  681. 27:52And then as you said, we've been in,
  682. 27:56we grow up in a household where we see parents
  683. 27:59going to work, going to clock in.
  684. 28:01So I will not do that.
  685. 28:03So my kid will not see me do that.
  686. 28:05So his wiring will be different.
  687. 28:09So that's how I see it.
  688. 28:10Kids literally copy what you do.
  689. 28:13So right now my daughter, she see me on meetings.
  690. 28:16When I go to those events, I go with her
  691. 28:18because I want her to actually,
  692. 28:22it needs to be her
  693. 28:23because I learned that from one of my mentor.
  694. 28:27I was talking to my mentor
  695. 28:28and I asked him about his kid.
  696. 28:31And then I was like,
  697. 28:33oh, what about if your daughter or little one
  698. 28:36to go get a job or something like that?
  699. 28:40He was like, it's okay, but this is not who we are.
  700. 28:44I was like, okay, what you mean,
  701. 28:46this is not who you are.
  702. 28:48And like, yeah, our family, we didn't grow up like that.
  703. 28:51We was always entrepreneurs.
  704. 28:53My dad was an entrepreneur, I'm an entrepreneur.
  705. 28:56So my daughter, my wife, all our family
  706. 28:59have this type of mindset.
  707. 29:02So I'm like, oh, okay, definitely I'm doing this way.
  708. 29:06I'm doing this way all in.
  709. 29:08And I believe that it's great.
  710. 29:11And then right now it's great.
  711. 29:12That's what your kids see you doing.
  712. 29:15We took our kid to the home days this weekend
  713. 29:18and our daughter got to see us record
  714. 29:20and be live and everything.
  715. 29:21And at first she was like, another video?
  716. 29:24Like she just kept, but we like, yep.
  717. 29:26And you come with me and I can't bring her.
  718. 29:28You want to stay with me?
  719. 29:29You coming along, we got to go over here.
  720. 29:30I got to take this video off to talk to the people.
  721. 29:33So like, you know, like just give her a little heads up.
