  1. 0:00Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome
  2. 0:04back to Alien Eyes Photos Industry Talk.
  3. 0:09I got about 10 minutes,
  4. 0:10but something's just been on my mind.
  5. 0:13Like I've been talking with my creative friends,
  6. 0:16my old creative friends that used to do music, poetry,
  7. 0:20a lot of painting, and they kind of transitioned as well.
  8. 0:25And I was thinking, we have these books,
  9. 0:30we have all this old work and albums and artwork,
  10. 0:36paintings, a lot of things, you know?
  11. 0:43And I was just wondering even to myself
  12. 0:46that I consider myself as a retired poet,
  13. 0:49a retired musician, and even like a,
  14. 0:53well, I can't say a retired author
  15. 0:54because I'm writing a new book, a couple new books.
  16. 0:57I've always been writing, so I can't really say that,
  17. 1:00but a retired poet, a retired musician,
  18. 1:06I have books, poetry books, and it's like,
  19. 1:11can I really sell this old book
  20. 1:16even though I'm not a active performing poet?
  21. 1:20Because usually, you know, you a performing poet
  22. 1:24promoting your poetry book.
  23. 1:27So how do I promote if I'm not active?
  24. 1:35I know I have the rights who still sell it as I should,
  25. 1:40and people are interested, and it's my personality,
  26. 1:46my experience, my mind, my heart, my feelings, emotions,
  27. 1:52all in that artwork, that music, the poetry,
  28. 1:57the books, but for an old car salesman,
  29. 2:06a veteran, maybe 20, 30 years
  30. 2:09in the car salesman industry,
  31. 2:13a great guy selling cars, making it happen,
  32. 2:18wrote a book, two books.
  33. 2:21Now he's a travel agent doing something else,
  34. 2:25whole another industry.
  35. 2:27Well, it's still traveling, I guess,
  36. 2:29but different position.
  37. 2:33Haven't been in a dealership in years.
  38. 2:37Should he still sell that book?
  39. 2:39Even though he's in a whole another industry,
  40. 2:42haven't even been to a dealership in years,
  41. 2:45he, you know, bought his car, and he's good.
  42. 2:49But he wrote this book with this information.
  43. 2:53He've done it for 20, 30 years.
  44. 2:55Should he still sell that book?
  45. 2:58Even though he's not active in that industry,
  46. 3:03should that painter sell their old artwork?
  47. 3:07Should they?
  48. 3:10But like I said, they had the right,
  49. 3:14but should they do something that was like timestamp,
  50. 3:20like maybe a protest, and they document it?
  51. 3:25Should they sell it?
  52. 3:28Or is it like a time limit or something?
  53. 3:35Or what about a plumber?
  54. 3:41Should they teach a workshop on plumbing
  55. 3:43if they haven't touched any tools
  56. 3:45or did any plumbing for 20 years?
  57. 3:50Something to think about.
  58. 3:53But what are you doing that you can sell
  59. 3:58that you could package up, put into a book,
  60. 4:03put into a course, make it to a workshop or a website?
  61. 4:09A workshop, an event?
  62. 4:15What is something that you're doing that you did
  63. 4:18and having a lot of knowledge on,
  64. 4:21a lot of insight, a lot of tips
  65. 4:23that a lot of people may not know
  66. 4:27or someone that wants to begin in this?
  67. 4:30This is your perspective.
  68. 4:34This is your thoughts,
  69. 4:37your facts that you accumulated,
  70. 4:39your experience that you accumulated,
  71. 4:41your skills that you accumulated,
  72. 4:43your hard work that you compounded
  73. 4:46and done over and over and over again,
  74. 4:49all the repetition that you did.
  75. 4:53You did it.
  76. 4:56You have that right to do it.
  77. 5:03No matter how long ago you did, you did it.
  78. 5:07Talk about it.
  79. 5:09Maybe somebody 50 years younger than you
  80. 5:15will appreciate that, like wow.
  81. 5:18You know they used to do this back in the like,
  82. 5:21this guy did this.
  83. 5:23This is genius.
  84. 5:25But you never know.
  85. 5:27Talk about your experience.
  86. 5:30Sell that old work.
  87. 5:34Sell the old frameworks,
  88. 5:35what they used to do back in the day
  89. 5:37before phones and internet.
  90. 5:40Share some of that.
  91. 5:43Things are timeless and let it be timeless.
  92. 5:47But you don't have to promote it as something new.
  93. 5:50If it's not, especially if you're not in the industry.
  94. 5:56Keep it real, keep it transparent.
  95. 5:59But people need to hear it.
