  1. 0:01Walk on, walk on, walk on, walk on to Alien Eyes Photos Industry Talk with your host,
  2. 0:11photographer Jackson, Steve Jackson of Alien Eyes Photos Media, bringing you Alien Eyes
  3. 0:19Photos Industry Talk, and I don't want to be too long because I have to eat, it's
  4. 0:28midnight, just got home from this event. I'm sounding a little nasally, feeling a little
  5. 0:34nasally, so that's how you know this is real and authentic, and I'll just give you my journey as
  6. 0:43promised anyway. Like I could be, you know, getting ready for bed, really be working,
  7. 0:53getting ready for bed, relaxing, or, you know, I got a meal, I want to eat it while it's hot,
  8. 0:59and I'm out all day, and, you know, I enjoyed myself being out today coming from this event,
  9. 1:10you know, I know most of the organizers of the event, you know, it's something I always look
  10. 1:19forward to when they do anything. I was, to be candid, I was supposed to be the contracted
  11. 1:30media for this event, and, you know, just handling business and doing business. You
  12. 1:42have a price and a price point, you adjust as needed, yes, but when someone undercuts your
  13. 1:53budget, I would just do not take it, you know, say, you would save it for the opportunity for
  14. 2:04someone else, or maybe someone who needs the opportunity, who haven't had many opportunities,
  15. 2:14but I work with a team, and I have to pay my team, I have to pay myself,
  16. 2:21and, you know, the first couple years I never took from the company, as far as paying myself,
  17. 2:29I always work, I'm actually still an employee somewhere, but you have to stand,
  18. 2:47or what you stand on, your price is your price, unless it's free, just think about it like that,
  19. 2:56because even though I wasn't officially hired, I still contribute, I still supported, I still
  20. 3:05got media for this favorite event of mine, and that's a bad quote when I see it,
  21. 3:14it's been annual, it's year after year, and I love it, so I'd rather do it for free,
  22. 3:24and enjoy myself, and not have that pressure, or just be working and feel like I'm undervalued,
  23. 3:30or anything like that, so just take that pressure, that alleviation of that tightness,
  24. 3:39like, uh, no, it's good to say no, it's good to walk away from deals that are not yours,
  25. 3:49are we still cool? Yeah, we know business is business, but catch me on the next one,
  26. 4:00oh yeah, sometimes negotiation is good, sometimes negotiation is bad, sometimes
  27. 4:09you cannot negotiate anything, like, no, this is, this is it, take it or leave it, some cases,
  28. 4:19yeah, it's good to negotiate, talk about it, work something out, be in the middle,
  29. 4:27but I'll let you be the judge of that, you are your own individual, you are your own entity,
  30. 4:36we make our own decisions, but I'm just giving you the options, so, but I use both,
  31. 4:46there's a lot of times, especially like non-profits, so any non-profits listening to
  32. 4:53this, don't try to take advantage of me now, but I try to work with them a little more,
  33. 5:01because I see the impact, I've been a part of so many, and it brings that emotion out of you,
  34. 5:12like, almost even to tears sometimes, as a man, just feeling the impact of so many
  35. 5:20of these non-profits that's doing great work, like, wow, so I do negotiate stuff like that,
  36. 5:29even do some things for free, like I believe in, everyone gets that free one, maybe it's a free
  37. 5:34picture, that first one is free, but after that, I'm gonna have to charge you, you know,
  38. 5:40the game is free, but if you really want to continue on and accelerate and do this long
  39. 5:46time, it's gonna cost you, it's a fee to things, so, yeah, my entrepreneur journey
  40. 5:56has been so, so fruitful, just me and so many people like I have at this event,
  41. 6:04and just go out to events, network, the key to going out is to network,
  42. 6:11if you're gonna step out, you meet one person at least, they gotta go, especially if you're
  43. 6:16introverted, I am introverted, but I've grown to know so many people that have always been
  44. 6:22out, people are like, dang, you everywhere, I see you everywhere, what are you just saying?
  45. 6:29Yes, it's my frequency, even with the days and months, sometimes I'll just be inside y'all,
  46. 6:37months away, people would finally pop out again, people are like, wow, I see you everywhere,
  47. 6:43I'm like, look, I've been in the house for a month, really? Oh, it's the same,
  48. 6:48yeah, because I'm outside, what many people don't go out, or go out to, or potentially network,
  49. 6:57or even if it's not attention, but just build their network, build their brand, connect,
  50. 7:05shake hands, talk with people, experience new things, different events, different industries,
  51. 7:10shout out to alien hospitals, industry talk, industry talk,
  52. 7:18as I cover different industries and interview guests from different industries,
  53. 7:25specialists, professionals, and then we all come together as a community, bring it together
  54. 7:35as a humanity, like, we all grow together, you know, we could all be in this together,
  55. 7:46what are you learning? What is your industry doing that my industry could apply? What is
  56. 7:53that? And that's why I wanted to start this podcast, and that's why going out to events
  57. 8:01is important, that's why I wanted to take the night off,
  58. 8:05I didn't want to work, I wanted to actually attend, be an attendee, enjoy myself,
  59. 8:11still create context, I'm a content creator, this is what I do, I'm going to do it regardless,
  60. 8:18but enjoy myself, and network, and meet people, I even did a podcast at the event,
